THANK YOU ALL AND BEST WISHES!

Funny that Scotty Moore uses a DD3 these days....
http://www.scottymoore.net/peavey.html
"The amp Scotty used most when performing since July of 2003, and earlier was a Peavey Classic 30 #09712586. He liked this amp cause it's light. It's a 30 watt single 12" speaker amp with 3 12Ax7 preamp tubes and a 4 EL 84 power tubes. He sometimes drives this into a second Peavey or a Yamaha amp. Scotty also uses a Boss DD-3 digital delay and CH-1 Super chorus pedal to help replicate that signature slapback echo sound."

Echoplex is it. Bar none the best. Grady Martin used it, jimmy page used it, I use it. Ep3 is the way to go.

I'M TRYING CARBON COPY, DANECHO AND THAT BOSS RE-20. BUT I HAVE THAT DOUBT: THE TUBE TAPE ECHO, FOR SLAPBACK, IS IT REALLY SUPERIOR? THANK YOU ALL, AGAIN!

Echoplex ep3 is solid state. Its magic.
Had mine since 92' and never let me down--ever.

Bathroom, subway tunnel, cellar.
For lush reverb: cathedral.

Don't know much about other echo units but I like the Fulltone TTE. It has a great sound.

Gotta agree on the Echoplex, although I've never tried an EP3 (I have the version before that).
The two great truths of sound to me are that for reverb, nothing touches a Fender Reverb Unit (vintage in particular) and for echo/slapback (as well as other applications) it's Echoplex.
Foot pedals are well worth discussing and comparing, but only in terms of being substitutes for the above two things.

there has to be a reality check here I'm thinking..
I know on a forum we can all jump in and thump our chests with the flag of our country in hand (metaphoric) but you have to at least explain WHY you think your choice is the best and what the damn thing does most favorably and why you feel it stands out amoung the others.
show and tell, show and tell.

Tavo,
I still say, in some cases, high end "removal", either by vintage equipment, coily cables, 100 foot cables, or devices not designed for guitars (RE-301), can be a very favorable thing. Come on... after all the talk of Ashley Kingman, TK, JD, et al.... all the VINTAGE gear, flatwound strings, etc.... obviously there's something to this gear and these techniques removing icepicky high end... just because something like the Dan-Echo isn't vintage...doesn't matter HOW it removes that touch of icepick, the fact that it does CAN be a GOOD thing.
I'm past thinking gear choices are "better" or "worse" anymore.... I just saw Tommy Emmanuel last night, and can't tell you how many times I've read Matons are crap, Tommy's guitars are set up with action so low they buzz like a bee... I can tell you- IT WORKS FOR HIM, which makes these things NOT "inferior"... not FOR HIM... and that's all that matters. Most amazing acoustic playing I've ever seen, best acoustic tone I've ever heard.
Furthermore, wasn't the Nocturne an attempt to get some of that "vintage flavor" into out rigs w/o everybody running out and buying a 301?
I seem to recall even YOU telling me one time you saw a band where the guy was using a Dan-Echo and you were blown away with his tone, including the slapback...

yes he has and his "modern" sound is too "modern". I'll take that old ES-295 and echosonic ANY day over the too clean sheen he's moved too.
Here's Deke playing with his rig, I know its not Scotty's hands at all but you and I both know that growl and sort of clipped sound it IT!!
