Tru-Arc Trouble

  1. Hi all, first post here.

I'm having trouble contacting Tim from Tru-Arc. I ordered a bridge from him, and it ended up not fitting the bridge posts of my Nashville TOM. I've been trying to contact him for SIX days now, to try and see what to do. But I can't seem to get a response from him. Has anyone else had this problem? I hope to make this bridge work somehow, or at least get reimbursed. He was very helpful and informative when discussing what I was looking for before I bought the bridge, but now I'm a bit concerned and slightly annoyed that he won't respond to any of my emails. Any thoughts?

  2. I know Tim has been very busy with other aspects of his life other than TruArc of late, hence he hasn't been posting on the board too much (outside of his outstanding NAMM coverage) so I would give him the benefit of the doubt.

  3. Don't worry, Kinski. Tim is one of the most stand-up guys that I know. He's just got more on his plate than he can handle at the moment. Rest assured he will be in contact with you as soon as he can and if he can't make it work, he will give you a no hassle refund.

By the way Kinski, welcome to the GDP.

I'd purchase a new base and he has them on his site linked below. The other work around is to fill one of your bridge holes and re-drill.

  5. Well, I'd prefer to just have the bridge re-drilled. The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul (w/ P90's).

  6. Tim is a great guy and will come through for you. You just have to be persistent with him. I know it's annoying at times but he always come through.

  7. I've had good success with Tim. Be patient.

Yeah those post are slightly different. Did he know the pole spacing when you ordered? I know he'll make whatever you need custom.

  9. Yeah, I gave all the specs. However, its not the spacing that is the problem. The spacing is spot on. The actual posts are too large. They won't fit in the holes of the bridge.

  10. Not sure but maybe you can mount different post.

  11. As far as the contacting, yes, Tim is very hard to get a hold of at times. Don't forget you are dealing with a VERY small business, which is NOT Tim's primary trade. And as was mentioned, NAMM, etc.

He's a bit behind, but give him time. I promise there will be a rash of answered questions and emails as soon as he gets a minute to do it!

  12. The last guy that could not get a hold of TIM had the Email address wrong. double check the address

  13. HI Kinski, are the posts obviously larger than the holes or are they close? I've got a Yamaha where I need to tap the Tru Arcs with a screwdriver handle to get them to pop on, but then they slide on the posts (but I also need to pop them off). Scared the bejeebers out of me the first time I tried it - i figured I'd get it stuck, but I lucked out. If they were even a hair bigger I probably couldn't make it work, but when I compare them with the ones on my LP (which slides on easily), they look the same to the naked eye... It's always something. I agree with the posts above, Tim has always done great by me.

You took the words out of my mouth, Curt. :D

Maybe we need a thread with a sticky that holds it at the top of the list of threads:

To all persons who are new to Tru-Arc™: Yes, Proteus can be fully trusted. He is busy (or so he says). He doesn't answer emails very quickly, but when he does, he will crush you with words. You don't stand a chance.

In any event, if you don't like the product, don't worry...you will be the first one in history, but he will cheerfully refund your purchase price.

And, if you have ordered a Tru-Arc™, and haven't received it quite yet, just relax. it will get there. Trust us when we tell you this. It will definitely get there. But, the guy has a real job. This is not a major factory you are working with; it's Proteus's brother who makes these things whenever the spirit moves him. So, Proteus doesn't have any product to sell you at the moment. But, he soon will. So, chill. Play your guitar that has an improper bridge radius and dream about how nice it will feel to your fingers once you get a bridge that has a radius that matches your fretboard. Dream of how nice it will be to not have your third and fourth strings buzzing on the frets.

Anyone have anything else to add to this sticky?

  15. All I can say is Tim needs to be twins.

  16. Good point, RJ, but I can confirm that even with a correct address, even responding from an existing e-mail conversation, Tim's just taking a whole minute to respond right now. All will be well:D

  17. When you order four Tru Arcs, you get a diploma.

  18. Wow, I'm about to enter my senior year. 8-)
