Not derailing Tru-Arc Puffery :)

  1. Howdy gang. I just read the "tru-Arc puffery" peice and didn't want to go tangental. So, out of you guys and gals here I have a dielemma. I want to upgrade my pre FMIC 6120 with a Tru-Arc and some alnico filters. Will probably go TVJ for the filters but not straight away due to cost. I figured I'd start with the bridge but I don't know how to choose which metal?? My band does straight-up rockabilly and some psychobilly. I like the sound warm but not muffled...I'm used to the sustain of an LP....I'd love to have a tone similar to RHH & Mr Setzer.....but who wouldn't lol. yes yes yes I know tone is more than a bridge but internet time is chaep. So what are your suggestions? I was going to go Stainless Steel.....

  2. Puffery? Wow. You do know what puffery means, right?

  3. OZ BONE OZ8-)!

  4. Yes I know what it means but you misunderstand me! 'Tru-Arc Puffery' was the name of the thread I didn't want to derail. I don't think it's puffery, otherwise I wouldn't be looking at buying one!!! I've added quotation marks to stop further confusion 8-)

  5. Ah, gotcha...

  6. Hey Rex - WTF? 8-o

  7. No worries, Just thinking communication difference between countries. All's Well .

  8. I'm a copper fan.

  9. Ahhhhh....lol it's funny isn't it. Now I can see what you mean lmao. Yeah, sometimes the aussie way of sayin' it gets misconstrued 8-)

For a second I thought there was an Oz compay doing bone bridges for Gretchs...even googled it lol

  10. Sorry, I can't type fast enough to keep up with you folks. It's misconstrued a bunch by the time I hen peck it!

  11. lol. I use 2 fingers flat out like a lizard drinkin' mate :P

  12. More like turtle in my fingers! I abbreviate a lot for the ease of typing, Hence Bone, For Bonedaddy ECT. Thanks for understanding8-)!

  13. Stainless, for maximum sustain, and even/clear sound.

    Yup. I have a ST-120 on a 6120 DSV.

  15. As my friends across the pond might say,

"It's hole-tone aluminium for me, what?"

  16. I think curing the radius mismatch issue between the bridge and the neck is the greatest benefit of having a tru-arc installed on the guitar. It really makes the guitar so much easier to play and imparts a fine feel to the instrument. That said, I'm sporting the stainless steel model on a dynasonic equipped guitar. I also like the aluminum models. Like you, I am most interested in achieving a "warm but not muffled tone". You might want to consider a Tone-Styler in addition to your Tru-Arc and pickup swap. I think it opens up more possibilities raher than forcing you to rely on the factory mudswitch settings. Either that or or switch out the caps in your mudswitch.
