Proteus,
Do you have any of the aluminum 12"s with the ebony bases yet? If so, what is the cost?

Jesse,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you- I've been away playing for the past few days. My guitar isn't a Gretsch at all. Before I went away, I quickly filmed this and posted it on the U-Tube-
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tkNlmj9LmSY
It'll either explain everything, or nothing at all! Hope your guitar's issues resolve happily.
Very nice Shuie!
Shuie, that's a screamin' bloody kick!
Thanks so much for posting the video. Pretty slick playing too - it ALL looks impossible left-handed. Wish I had that technical consistency.
The guitar sounds great, too.
Bear, I'll email you about a bridge.
I have to say, watching lefties play gives me the creeps. It looks so WRONG.
There is a long established fear of the sinistral kind. I say burn 'em up.
I'm glad you guys both liked the little testimonial. The bridge is great. I can't quite believe that it would have made such a positive difference to the poke and sustain. Overtones, too, are really enhanced. At stage volume the upper-mid push and attack are especially appreciated.
Well, finally got some free time and put my TV Classics in the Falcon.
I took the Tru-Arc off the DuoJet and put her on the bird
String spacing is NOT an issue with the TV bridge pup. The wider pole spacing of the TV Bridge matches the Tru-Arc darn near "spot on".
Once again, this guitar, like my DuoJet, plays "better" with the Tru-Arc bridge. I didn't measure either Gretsch bar bridge, but playing either the DuoJet or Falcon with the Tru-Arc makes me a Tru-Believer
The radius match is better......period!
Tone.............well, the Falcon sounded pretty good before IMO, but the aluminum Tru-Arc just woke this babe up. Hard to put into exact words, but as others have described, there's just more of a lot of things going on...............and that's UNPLUGGED!
Sweet sounding, better playability. What more could a guy ask for
Thanks Tim.
I have a Setzer model. Would it be possible to order one of these bridges in brass..... Thanks Kenneth
Proteus I guess it's soon time to get this done! Let me know what the status of the bridge shipping with the base is and I'll be ordering an AL 12 with base as soon as they are available!
See guys I told you they were that good! Crowbone had to sit though 12 hours of my droning on and on coming back from Nashville! I know a lil bit of what I'm talking about!
KMA, just message me through the board (click my avatar, then select "Contact Proteus" from the drop-down menu; the message will come to my email) and I'll give you pricing and ordering details.
rj, we'll email...
Sounds like a wiener!
Shuie BTW Nice playing! I knew there was a reason I always liked that Eddie Cochran model! The lefty really throws me off! Worse yet if you guys out of the US post I tend to read these posts with an accent from where ever you guys are from. That also includes a southern drawl. Yeah it's wierd I know but I have an OCD to fill I think that's the only plausable explaination! Hey I do Irish,Brit, German! My eastern European comes out as a bad Dracula imitation and all you Aussies come out sounding like Paul Hogan. Anyhow hearing you talk threw me as much as the lefty Gretsch!![]()
Time to go to bed!
Proteus:
Just stumbled on this thread. Being a big fan of bar bridges, I'd considered one for a project guitar, an ES-5 like Peerless. But the bar bridge high E to low E spacing of 2" even is a little too narrow for that guitar. The stock bridge was either 2 1/8 or 2 2/32 if I recall.
What is that measurement on your new bridges? Is it possible to customize? Thanks, and I hope you're doing well with your new endeavor.
Michael D.
Roadjunkie,
One of life's greatest mysteries is why the sound of our own voice is so APPALLING. The sound in your head bears NO RELATION to the sound that others hear.
I hope you will gain extra pleasure from my future posts, knowing what a nasty nasal tenor I possess. I know I won't either!
Geez Shuie. I now have to endure yet another GDP poster who plays better than I play. Thanks a lot.

Man did you ever hit the nail on the head there! I cringe if there's a video where I'm talking! If I were to close my eyes and just hear the audio my first thought would be "Who in the hell is that doofus!" That may explain why I don't like cameras in general. There was a group shot from the Nashville gig and someone from another forum said I looked alot younger then they pictured. There was another pic from that weekend where you could see it was hot and sticky. In that one the only thing missing were the bolts in the neck that separated me from Frankenstein's creature!

I'd like to buy one of your aluminum bar bridges for my G-5122DC. Please email me as follows and let me know how to pay you

Many Thanks
I installed the Tru-Arc aluminum on my 5120 on Saturday. I first masked the position of the bridge saddle with tape, and when I adjusted the new bridge for intonation, found that the bass side needed to move about 1/8" toward the bottom of the guitar. Once that was done, intonation sounded just fine all over the neck. Right away, even before plugging in, I could feel the guitar vibrating more strongly all over to strummed chords --- neck, body, everything. The Bigsby action felt noticeably smoother too. Plugging in --- wow! The sonic effect was akin to having each note spotlighted, so that even playing chords, each note stood out in 3D relief. It didn't so much change the tone as enhance and define the tone already there. It was most noticeable on clean settings, but even on overdrive settings, there was an added crispness and brilliance. Pretty cool! (and boy, does it make palm-muting comfy too!)
I used the guitar at a gig that night --- a private party with jam, some musicians I'd played with before, some I hadn't, and the music spanned everything from straight-ahead jazz to country-rock to blues to original Steely Dan-ish pop. LOTS of compliments from both audience and other musicians and lots of interest from other guitar players. A big thumbs-up to Proteus for this simple but very effective upgrade option!
