Tim I received the Stainless Tru-Arc last week. Much thanks for such a speed delivery. What a fantastic work of craftsmanship. I haven't had my guitar tech guy put it on yet - I'm still waiting for the Grover 18:1 tuners I've ordered.
He's pinned the his own bridge on his Gretsch with some brass pins, and he says the improvement and playability is phenomenal. He's looking forward to hearing the Tru-Arc on my guitar.
Tim, if you have any business cards, you should send me a few, I'd have no problem recommending your Tru-Arc to some of the retailers in my area. When I pulled it out of the package, I couldn't believe how "arced" it was, I can't wait to hear this thing through my brother's Marshall!

A TruArc tone is so difficult to describe. Now anyone who asks about them can be referred to your tune- it trully "says" it all.

So, I'm interested in a bar bridge for my single Anniversary. It has a very flat fretboard. Not totally flat, but pretty darn flat. I read the opening of this thread by Proteus and he mentioned some Gretsch bridge bars have a 16"-20" radius. I would love to find one of these. Did anyone here upgrading to a proper tru-arc find themselves with a left over 16"-20" radius bar that's just collecting dust?
I'm looking for a "pretty darn flat" bar bridge. I don't think I need a base. Hopefully it will just drop into place on my posts.

Interesting. I didn't know you did custom bends. I pictured you cutting bridges out of 24" and 18" rings of metal like pizza pie! :)

ty, even if what you say is perfectly true, and there is evidence that it is, why would you try to derail a thread to push a competitor. I am sure that everyone is aware that there are alternatives. Most here could even tell you what they are and how to contact the respective companies. What you are doing sounds like something a 12 year old would do.
Both appear to be nice products taking differing approaches to a common problem. Both are well made and it is amazing that given the steps they go through, either one is available for the price it is. The market will deal with it. Civility helps. It really does.

Fretboard radius.
The fretboard radius, uokclan. If you get out your trusty compass, and create a circle with a 12" radius (remember your geometry class?), the arc of the edge of the circle should be the same as the arc of the top of the fretboard.

I have a Spectra Sonic lead. I'm looking to bring a little more clarity and twang from the powertrons which makes me think aluminum and maybe holes? I also want to be able to roll back the tone a bit for those old Wilco, Replacements, and Whiskeytown alt.country twangy rock. Ofcourse be able to cop some ZZ top type stuff as well. Would the Aluminum still be my huckleberry?

Going back to the original testing in Nashville I thought the SS the more complete sound but the DSW just spoke with the AL. When prote and I talked this out for the Spectrasonic I went with the stainless thinking it will give a larger sonic choice. The holes were just an afterthought and a whim. Tim thought the AL would be great but I stuck to my guns. On a better day I will order an AL for it so I have the choice. I think the AL would also make the bridge easier to dial in then the stock ABR. That is my only complaint about this guitar is dialing in the bridge by itself. May be the best answer short of a cap job on the tone pot.
I think with the powertrons the sound spectrum on the spectra sonic is pretty full. I'm just missing some of that twang, that I think the AL would add. The SS does seem like a good way to go...then so does brass...now seeing that Mr. Twangy guitar hmself is using a copper...leaves one's head spinning with choices
I want to hear a stock 5120 with all variations of Tru Arcs. All metals and hole configurations. That's the only way I could choose.
I want more seperation of tones when I play chords, so less mudd, more high but none of those super shrill tones.
So I demand a Tru Arc Elaborate Sound Sample Demonstration Library or else I will stomp my feet really loud...

I think maybe the best definition I've heard of the CU TA was AL lite. I don't know this to be true but from what I read it parrots the AL but not quite as bright. It may look funny on the Spectrasonic but WTF I'll wear plaids and stripes at the same time if the mood strikes. Well that's BS really I only go solid but still like things that clash!
I'll loan you mine if you leave one on it for me. But then my 5129 would feel neglected, so I'd probably need two...
