I think the 999 does one of the BEST rockabilly slapback delays. It's what I use mine for.
Other delays I've used for slapback (but still prefer the AD999 to):
MXR Carbon Copy EHX Deluxe Memory Man Line 6 Echo Park Boss RE-20 Space Echo Marshall Echohead

Let's see, well, you want the repeats knob all the way down, for 1 repeat. 2 at the most, but I prefer 1.
You'll want the delay knob around the 10:30 position, but you'll have to fine-tune that to your personal liking.
Then I usually have the level knob pretty high, about 1:30 or so, because I'm only using 1 repeat, having it pretty loud does not get in the way. Again, you'll have to fine-tune that to your liking.
And of course, it all depends on your amp- especially how much gain you have on the amp. The more gain you're running on the amp, they more sensitive the settings will be on the AD-999.
It's only got 3 knobs- it's pretty easy to get a great slapbacl sound. Just turn the knobs until you like what you hear!
