I intend to update my 1996 Orville LP-Junior with this "magic" ingredient, so who has already tried this here? Is it worth doing it?
I also will change the P-90(think it's a ferrite one from Gotoh). What is the best Fralin, Lollar or a Seymour antiquity? Any advice is appreciated.

About the caps...I have some vintage BB's and other brands/styles but have not had a chance to try them out in anything. Soon thou...soon!
I've been told that since guitars "bleed" or the treble goes "to ground", that the type of cap is not as important to the sound, as compared to amps and caps
Don't know for sure, but a good cap couldn't hurt
i haven't tried bumblebee caps, but i changed the Advil-colored caps in my humbucker-equipped Epiphones and the ceramic disc in my Dyna-ed Pro Jet for silver-mica caps and the result was more high end with the pot wide open, finer tone adjustment, and a more useable tone control range. i like the silver-micas better than orange drops, because the rolloff is more precise and they color the tone less. changing caps isn't going to make a crap guitar sound good, but it can make a good guitar sound better. my Wildkat desperately needs a different tone cap, a bumblebee or a Mallory, to round off its sharp edges.

fact is that rolling off the tone pot(to 3)on my 62 Les Paul Sg junior and also on the Orville gives a quite acceptable round neck pickup. You can also make some fake wah effects, but that's another story.
This trick doesn't work as well on two pickup guitars and the smooth quality of the sound you get apparently has to do with the materials used on that "Bumbleebee" cap.
Thanks, Setzer, I've heard very good comments about his Jazzmaster pickups and his relic guitars look incredible. I still hesitate a lot, as Seymours are the safe choice of products from an experienced pickup builder.
Are all these new builders consistent in their products? For instance, Rio Grande to name one was highly recommended, and next some people were happy and some were a bit disapointed
