I'm looking to maybe buy a new amp, maybe build one. I'm leaning towards getting a kit. I've been doing tons of research, but maybe I've missed something that someone here knows about. Anyone have a boutiqueish amp that they're in love with? I'm mainly looking for a PTP head around 30watts without reverb/trem.
What do you recommend?

A Weber Double-5e3 Deluxe kit, perhaps? Two twelves and double the power of the normal 5e3 Deluxe.
I have no experience with building amps or with Weber, but if I was looking for something tweed it'd probably be that kit. That or the Super, which runs a 15" speaker.
Are you looking for Fender tone (tweed, blond, blackface?) or more on the British side of the tone pond?

I was looking at that particular model Typierce. I've had a weber speaker and a few beam blockers, thus far I'm a fan of weber. I am planning on building the 5H15 kit to go along with the, as of yet, undetermined amp.
As far as tone goes, I'm a fender guy. I lean towards blackface sound, but I'd give anything a try that showed some promise.

The Weber stuff is great. Don't believe what you hear about the kits, they now use Neutrik jacks and Carling switches.
Gotta say though, if you've never done much amp work then I'd recommend you stay away from the 5H15... It's a pretty intense build by all accounts. Why not the bias-shifting trem of the 5H15T or just the straight up 6G15 reverb unit?
For the amp, why not try something like a tweed Bassman (5F6A) head? Never hear anyone complaining about a Bassman...

Ziess, the bassman is on the shortlist. I am just wondering if there's anything else out there I haven't stumbled across.
I'm decent to fair when it comes to amp work, whenever I get stuck I've got a buddy that unasses me pretty well. So, I'm good there.
I wanted to do the 5H15 because I like the harmonic trem over the bias-shifting. Just a personal preference, and I do want the trem. So that excludes the straight up reverb units like the 6G15.

I bought a 5E3 clone from www.cpamps.com and it's amazing! Easily my favorite amp I've ever played through. The highest quality compenents and it's all hand wired with a pine tweed covered cab and weber alnico 12" speaker. I LOVE IT!

Charlie Vegas had a post about Allen amps. They also have kits. www.allenamps.com
