Anyone used one of these? It looks really cool to me. Should be just the ticket with a tele. Maybe change the speaker to one that's better voiced for guitar.
Fender Bassman 20 eh?

I've got one and it KILLS. Sounds great with a Tele Kills with humbucker guitars too. Sounds like Angus Young, and it sounds great with Bass.
Heres mine to the right of an old tele I had

Your redommendation is highly regarded in my camp Mr Dlight, cheers. I'm pretty sold on it myself, regardless of what anyone else says. But it's comforting to hear some nice things about it.
Is there anything noticeably special about the active eqs?

I don't know that it has active EQ. What does yours have?

As your attourney I must recommend that you buy this amplifier and play it very loud at all times.

After receiving advice from my attorney, I have decided to place a bid.
I read somewhere they had active eq, it ends in the early hours of this morning, fingers crossed.

The circuit in this amp is very close to a black face Fender Deluxe amp. A friend of mine has one which he asked me to modify. I made it as close to the Deluxe as I could. It has a solid state rectifier, whereas the Deluxe has a tube rectifier, so I had to add a dropping resistor in series with the supply output to simulate the sag of the tube rectifier.
He now absolutely loves the amp! Everywhere he has used it he has gotten comments from other guitar players on its great tone.
He did replace the 15 inch speaker with an Eminence 12 inch Alnico Legend. He gave me the 15 inch speaker, which I researched and found out it is a 1982 60 W Pyle. I now have it in a 45 Wrms amp I designed and built (two 6L6 output tubes), coupled with two 8 inch speakers from a Shure Vocalmaster PA column. I think this speaker combo sounds great.
Good find and buy!

Now I guess the question is what speaker I should swap out for? Definitely still a fifteen, but something a little more suited to guitar

I'd try the one that's in it first, you might get lucky with that.

If your speaker is the same type as the one I have, both my friend and I thought it was a bit too dark sounding by itself for guitar. That is why I added the two 8 inch speakers to my cabinet that uses it. But you may like the darker sound. Or your amp may have a different speaker in it. Fender is not known to be too consistent in the speakers they use in their amps. So, as Walter says, try it first.

I use mine with the original speaker and it sounds great. Remember even when they were trying Fender never did "dark" well.

Don't worry, I'm very open minded when it comes to payment. A Farfisa will do. -

Nov 6, 2008 6:55 a.m. Walter Broes:
The tweed Super (2X10) Weber Kit I got from JBGretschguy, and a Headstrong 3X10 Bandmaster that I had modded with a Super Reverb output transformer.
They're both pretty much the same chassis, and as far as I'm concerned the tweed Super deserves "classic" status as much as the Bassman. It's a different amp, not just a smaller bassman.
This is a clip of the Super with just a delay pedal, amp turned about halfway up

I'm really hurting for something with a built in reverb though. How many watts does the Super put out?
-

Nov 6, 2008 7:53 a.m. Walter Broes:
About 30 healthy watts.
hmm..reverb...I'll repeat my mantra that a Bandmaster Reverb head is an awful good deal.
Exactly the same chassis as a Super Reverb with a smaller, 4ohm O.T. About 35 to 40W stock, but a larger O.T. doesn't have to be that expensive if you want to get it to Super Reverb/Bassman "oomph". -

Get an outboard reverb then you can buy anything you see that sounds cool and add reverb to it. When I got my first Fender reverb tank it really freed me going forward with my amp purchases
