Cool Information About The Vox AC4TV Series

I'm interested too. I haven't touched my AC4 head plus 112 for a year or so. Didn't try it into 8 Ohms. Generally I never got the hype and the love that some people have for it. I still don't think it is a great sounding amp and I don't like the "great for the price" thing. My amp is stock, no mods, stock tubes, stock speaker in the cab.
So AC4 owners who like it: What guitar should I plug in? Do I have to swap tubes? Do I have to swap the speaker? Will there be any nice bass response?
I never noticed any of it. And it is too loud for home use (in the 4W mode) and not usable for anything above. I love the Vox chime in the clean-to-crunch area.
Btw, I have a 90s Laney cab with the unloved HH speaker that smokes the Vox 112. Both same size, closed back.

i use my AC4TV 10" with a stock MiM Tele i did upgrade the tubes, specifically changing the 12AX7 to 12AY7-EH gold to increase the head room (later breakup) and the EL84 is now a preferred series 7189 with a little more power i've noticed, i get amazing tones out of this amp now with better clarity nice chime with tight bottom, i see no reason at this point to change the speaker next, what i will do is change a few caps then see how it changes before any speaker change, i've learned from BillM that the last mod to any amp is the speaker, and most folks want to change the speaker 1st !

I'm not sure if SnorkelMonkey is still around to answer the question...?

ya that's too bad bigorange he;s not around, i even tried to email directly and no response,
so i upgraded my tubes and did a speaker upgrade to Celestion G10 Vintage with 8ohm, wanted to put in the G10 Gold but the Gold was to big to fit in the box

WOW is all i can say volume and tone galore, with this speaker and tube 12AY7-EH (gold pin) combination, these changes did exactly what i was looking for, amp is truly gig-able now with the volume coming out of this little monster now for small venues,
highly recommend this changes if you want to max out head room and get your breakup from a peddle, and did i say amazing VOX chimes,
i play a tele so a perfect match :>)
