The local rado station is having a “All 80’s Weekend” .

When I think of 80's ,I think of these cool Obscure New Wave bands from the L.A. area that had that distinct edgy sound,,Like these guys.

and these guys..

2

The 70s should have been MY decade, but I liked 80s music better, even the heavy synth stuff. 80s of course was the decade when Gretsch did not exist.

I was lucky enough to see The Stray Cats at the US Festival in 1983,, That guitar slinger sealed the deal for me, I wanted a Gretsch.

6

To be fair, Gretsch didn’t exist as a viable business entity for most of the ‘80s even if there were notable players. I spent most of the decade thinking the music I loved was played on Rics or 335s, when in reality it was also on Gretsches or Casinos. The internet is kind to those of us who have a certain sound in our heads.

7

Anyone know the backstory of that photo of Elvis Costello with a Gretsch?!? Especially In that era he seems inextricably linked to the Jazzmaster.

He loved that gretsch and was using it a lot but his basement got flooded and it got ruined.

9

And what’s with the Everly Brothers pick guard on that Town and Country?!?!

that looks nothing like the everly brothers pickguard. Johnny Cash's was doin it earlier.

11

Are they going to not play all of the good 80's music that they weren't allowed to play in the 80's?

12

Sorry Billy, they are most definitely NOT going to play the good ‘80s music. They never do. Still.

Also, that Johnny Cash guard shape is totally metal. Amirite??? It’s like somebody glued a B.C. Rich on the front of a J-200.

Ive heard Men at Work and Prince alot ,, not a good weekend for 80's music. At least not the good stuff.
