I remember reading in a 6120RHH thread how several of us agreed that Jim Heath needs to release a DVD video lesson. Well wouldn't you know it, I have a guitar lesson from the man so I threw it up on Google Video although it's not on DVD to my knowledge. Still over an hour long though, so it's worth it. He talk about his technique, his influences, gear and so on so forth.

About the video quality, it's CRAP. And I'm dead serious too, I mean, it's pretty bad. Starts out ok but it gets worse as the video goes on. Audio isn't exactly top notch but it's acceptable. So until Jim releases an instructional video, this is all we got!

Guitar.com did those. Bonedaddy put up each other four lessons for everyone to download since it seems that Guitar.com... lost them or something. It'll definitely do until he gets the word that there are guitarists out there who would really love an instructioonal DVD. Hopefully with a book of TAB.

he's nice enough to explain what he's playing at any given time, because if you had to go on just by looking, you'd be pretty screwed...but it is awesome to see him talk about his playing in an extended setting, everything I'd seen up til now was very abreviated.

I burnt them to DVD so I can watch it on my tv! The quality isn't the best, but it could be a lot worse. I can still see and hear everything perfectly though.

No problem and yes, I was bored at work last night so I made that little page.

The Tele is pretty cool. It's nice to have a Tele tone and switch to a filtertron. BTW, it was the leftover Filtertron from the bridge of my Annie One of the big reasons I got the new Cochran was because of the dog ear in the neck position. For some reason I like to have two totally different sounding pickups in one guitar. I have two TV Classics in my Annie but I'm thinking about swapping out the neck one for a different TV Jones pup (powertron prehaps). I want one that is made for the bridge though that way I don't lose output, just get a different tone. I'll probably start a new thread about that since I'm not sure how a bridge pickup would work at the neck but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Rate you up because of two reasons: 1. videos 2. your interesting guitar projects

Was it difficult to install filtertron to tele? I'm just a situation at hinking to change stock pups to TV Jones. But its difficult to make dicision because I like stock pups sound.

It wasn't very hard. The cavity happened to be close to the size I needed. I had to make it deeper though. I also had to add a couple of shims to make the pup sit nice and even. That was probably the hardest thing and it was easy so overall, a pretty easy mod.

Anybody know where I can find any tab to go with this? Some of it is pretty tough to figure out.

Good Rev tabs are tough to come by (I guess a pitfall to not being a superstar is there isn't a ton of incorrect tabs flooding the web with te occassional right one). The only tab I've seen published on the web is Big Sky.

I'd just put it on as big o a viewing as possible and grab your guitar. I find the rewind button is my best friend.

The Videos from guitar.com are pretty good. The tabs from Big Dwarf Rodeo suck. If you watch the videos a few times, it'll get you in the right ball park a LOT faster than most of the poorly tabbed out examples on BDR.

The solos? Well, why play someone else's get-off note for note? You can get close by just listening and watching the videos. You gotta inject a bit of your own juice into it; unless you're in a tribute band or something. But that's kind of lame, don't you think?

Well, in the video, RHH plays some of his influences' solos, pretty much note-for-note.

I think it's an instructive thing to do. Student painters, including some that became very famous, have always painted duplicates of past masters' works, just to try to learn something about their technique.

Now, I have to go back and try at that pinch harmonic that Setzer gets into the solo of his cover of "Flying Saucer Rock n' Roll." I might take a crack a the RHH stuff later, but I do wish I had good tabs.

Well, I'm gradually figuring things out, but that fast bit where he can't explain what he is doing is impossible. Kind of funny. He tries to slow it down, but just plays it quietly - and at the same speed no matter how hard he tries to slow down.

Rev tabs are hard to find.

And I'm going to see the Rev tomorrow in Amsterdam!
