Probably No One On The GDP Likes The Beatles

1

But, if I am wrong, and you did/do enjoy the Beatles' music, then you might be interested to know that PBS is broadcasting the Ron Howard movie from about a year or two ago called THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK – THE TOURING YEARS.

The movie is scheduled to be broadcast on Saturday, November 25, from 8:00-10:30 pm ET. They tell you to check your local listings.

HERE is a blurb on PBS' website which discussed the movie. You will also see there that, after the movie has ended, PBS will be broadcasting a ninety-minute show called Sgt. Pepper's Musical Revolution. This documentary movie shows some of the makings of the Sgt. Pepper's album.

But, probably no one on this site cares a bit about the Beatles. Just thought I would post this up for the one or two who might. It will probably find some fans over on the Epi Casino forum website.

I might tune in during commercials in the Partridge Family Marathon.

3

I've heard of them.

They'll be going somewhere.

4

Seen both of these and they are really good. I['m all pumped up cause it's the 50th year for Magical Mystery Tour album and movie coming up. Still watch the movie around Christmas each year. It's a tradition.

You know it's great

YOU KNOW IT"S GREAT

5

I'll be tuning in for sure. The Beatles ARE my musical youth (and adulthood too).

6

My PVR has been programmed accordingly.

The show I do in retirement homes includes Beatles music. Seems a lot of residents in those places recall the Moptops rather fondly.

I usually start the set by asking the assemblage to recall if they will how old they were when the Beatles hit our shores, then remind them gently that particular event took place more than 50 years ago.

Surprises a lot of `em

7

I love new rock as well as old rock mostly be cause I'm old. We old guys do't quit. Thank you.

8

Why do you think no one likes The Beatles here? I think you meant that in jest, didn't you?

9

I'm an old guy that loved everything that the Beatles did. Tonight I saw a live band that played a lot of newer songs very well. They ended their show with "Come Together" which had the crowd screaming and clapping. The Beatles are still, and will always be, number one.

He’s joking. This is one of the biggest bunch of Beatle freaks I know of (with a few curmudgeonly hold outs. You know who you are, you Blue Meanies)

11

Thanks Ric12. I’ll be sure to record both

Was thinking that too but was not sure because a lot of rockabilly purist don't like The Beatles but here at the GDP not everyone is a rockabilly purist.

13

The Beatles? Never heard of them, may have to check them out

14

the band that always sounds good at someone else's house, but somehow never makes it on the stereo at mine. Interesting gang though - I'll probably watch a bit.

Weren’t they the band that tried to be like The Monkees?

16

Looks like Saturday night is now booked. Thanks

Bob, here on Thanksgiving Day in our beloved USofA don't choke on that tongue in your cheek. I've been posting on FzBk & Twitter for weeks, and will again so no one misses a beat. They have been one of the few constants in my life. And, it looks as though My Sweet George is one man who'll never break my heart, except by going on ahead of the rest of us. Happy Thanksgiving, Y'All. I love you, each.

I've heard that before but I don't see the correlation?

20

They showed it on Tv here the other night , It got me all fired up. So now I'm tweeking the R - C58 , that I never could get any decent sound out of ! And looking for he guy that I sold my R 340/12 to. That one should never have left the house !

21

It was on Norwegian TV a few months ago. As much as I liked the movie - and love the Beatles - I strongly disliked the fact that they'd speeded up the music slightly, thus altering the pitch of the songs. Say, if I'm used to a song being in E, it's like chalk on a blackboard if it's closer to F. I might have a problem...

22

Is it scheduled after Saturday? On the Road and won't get home until after then.

23

Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, I don't believe there is not even one complete performance in the film that doesn't have narration on top of it. And I believe some sequences were colorized.

Man, I'm glad you reminded me. I'd hate to have missed the Partridge Family marathon! Such talent, such musicianship - and the songs! No wonder they're considered the voice of their generation.

Those Beatle fellas really could have benefited from studying the Partridge Family. Especially that McCartney guy - he could have learned a lot about playing the bass from a pro like Danny Bonaduce.

The wiring may be one of the problems with the C58.
