You've seen/heard it a gazillion times, but this kills 'em all: the original.
Oh no, not another Hot Rod Lincoln youtube.

I saw Bill Kirchen live at the Johnstown Folk Festival two years ago. A genuine master of the Telecaster and real hoot besides. The biggest surprise was that my 'raised on Lawrence Welk' wife loved the guy. She thought he was twice the musician as some decent Strat jockeys who were playing some complicated 120 dB licks that didn't add much to the songs their band mates were playing. And she was right!
If you get a chance to see Bill Kirchen go for it. He might even turn you into a fan of truck driver music

My band was on the bill with Bill Kirchen two, three years ago, and he's a great guitar player, entertainer, and him and his wife seem like genuinely nice people too.
He sat in with us for a song or two, and he had me sit in with them when they were doing their set, super nice guy.

Walter, that's awesome. I met Bill at a gig and he signed my broken old Gibson J-50, but after watching him play, I wished he had signed my tele.

His tele is a mystery. Looks like it has those "rails" humbucker pickups, but it sounds like a REAL tele should sound. Anyone know what rig he's using and what pickups he's running? I loved it!

Hey Wenzel,
there was another Hot Rod lincoln post last week and there someone said he uses the Barden Pick ups. Like Danny Gatton used. I think they even both developed them together with Joe Barden.
edit: Here it is and I see you asked this question there too. other hot rod
