Ah yes. Probably my favorite band, in an overall sense of the word. Definitely the best thing to come out of the 80s
for the "great Gretsch sound", check out this:
It has a tone very reminiscent of "last train to Clarksville" in the solo (at least to me).
I was very lucky in that I got to see them in Anaheim, California last February!

Hoodoo Gurus were Gretsch guys too? I keep finding these bands that I was into in the 80's used Gretsches. I had no idea then. I guess I was always into that tone and just didn't know.
I didn't know they were Australian either

Was that a joke or have you never heard The Living End? If you haven't, they are awesome.

It was no joke but 1. i didn't know where they were from and 2. i don't think i like them. Im gonna have to give them another listen though since everyone i know with musical taste that i respect likes them. I find alot of bands i end up loving long term i don't like so much at first and alot of bands that like for only a short time are the ones i like instantly.

Awesome , a thread about aussie legends Hoodoo Gurus! Here's a short history lesson for those of you not in the know.
In the song "Tojo", Tracey is the hurricane that absolutely flattened Darwin on Christmas Day 1974. General Tojo of course was the Japanese Head of Command in WW2. Listen to the lyrics with this in mind, this is my favourite Gurus song, lyrically and musically.
Another Great video is the Gurus song "My Girl". A great song and a great video showing Sydney in the early 1980's. Another classic.

well pointed out AussiePete. All their albums are good, but nothing beats their first Stoneage Romeos - even has a song about a Get Smart episode..

Never made it to Darwin?! This is embarrassing but for the past 20 years I thought he was singing "Tojo never made it to college..."
