Any Hank Williams Sr fans in here? If so, you might want to check out the American Masters (PBS) dvd, released in 2004. I recently found it at the dreaded Wal-Mart for under $10. Bury your pride, and shop there during third shift to avoid being seen by anyone you know (or even want to know).
It's loaded with mega-soundbite interviews conducted with those who knew him best. One of my favorites has Danny Dill & Don Helms sitting in the front seat of the same '48 Packard the band used to tour in, explaining when Hank got drunk and fired the entire band...and everyone else, including many who didn't work for him.
The program includes haunting covers by grandson Hank Williams III. If anyone needs proof of genes skipping a generation, it's in strong evidence on this dvd.
