Yep yep..Perkins is the man! Thanks for the vote! 'preciate it.
I love the solos that Duane does on the song. I'm eyeballing that G&L Broadcaster that Carl is playing. I've always wanted one of those.

Mr. Blue Suede Shoes himself. Carl Perkins had that something special. Duane's solo was just killer and the fills he did after that.
If that ain't Rockabilly, somebody's gonna hafta tell me what is.
Richard
BTW sroux, thanks a bunch for posting that one. I got a smile on my face now.

That was too cool. The first solo (Perkins) rocks! And of course, Duane sounds great too. I love Carl Perkins as well... what an undervalued talent in my opinion-- great singer, great songwriter, and a great guitar player.

I always think it's funny when they post his name during his solos. He's got to be one of the most recognizable men (not to mention sounds) in America. I met Paul Harvey (page two...) and someone told me that he and Billy Graham were the only two people who could walk into the White House without an appointment. I'd like to think Duane (and at one time Chet) could make that list.

That clip is from Red, Hot, and Country, a filmed concert shot at The Ryman. There is an album of the same title, both of which were made to raise money for the Red Hot Foundation, in support of AIDS research.
It was a heck of a night, and one of the highlights for us was watching from backstage as Levon Helm sang The Weight.
Waylon came out for a couple of songs, and tore it up. He is sorely missed. Put on one of his old CDs, who sings like that now?
Needless to say, Carl Perkins truly was a gem. Such a quiet and kind man, but he just loved to rock!. A very special moment, and I am so very glad it's out there to share.

It truly is an honor to have you on the board. You always have the coolest stories/insights.
You are correct about Waylon! He was truly a great musician, and of course Carl rocked the house!

About 25 years ago my band supported Carl Perkins at a gig in Belgium. A really nice guy and a true gentleman. He watched us do our soundcheck and when we got talking afterwards he commented about my guitar (a 63 Tennessean):
"Nice geetar, John. Mind if I have a play?"
"Err, not all Carl, help yourself!!"
He taught me a couple of country and rockabilly riffs that I still use to this day!
