Pappy, 60's Gretsches have banana plugs on the pickups. I don't know when they came in and went out in Gretsch history, but there's nothing new about the idea.

Those old Dan Armstrong guitars had it right. No screws, just snap a pickup out, and snap a new one right in.

Walter, any idea when that started?
I'm sure it isn't a new idea, but it was the first time I had seen it and I was very impressed. It's a freaking genious idea that I'm shocked guitar companies don't embrace more.
The Randall amp isn't anything new either though, Seymour Duncan came out with basically the same thing with his convertible amp a while back from what I read.
But it's ALL new to me!

Hi Pappy,
Here is a pick up of my 1964 green Anniversary. So then they had them but I don't know exactly when it started and when it ended.

I had a hardtail Strat with two pickguards: one was s/s/s and one was H/H. I used a couple of automotive snap connectors for each setup.
I also had a Heritage Eagle with another acoustic pickguard. Inside the guitar already was a RCA style connector for taking off the pickguard mounted pickup.
Back then I was still trying to make one guitar work for everything.

Probably a 6120--doesn't matter too much which variation. I'd probably like to play a few and compare the different ones.

If I had to start over again, I'd go with the 6118T-LTV, as it is closest to my 6118T-120:
I really dig the Annies, and I love TV Classics. I'd have to switch out the bridge to a Tru-Arc, though. Oh, and I like the idea of a lacquer finish.

Not technically "still in the lineup", but it's recent enough...my 2005 Duo-Jet 6128TSP is my current "can't do without" guitar.

Only one huh?
Ok; then it would be the CGP.
I LIKE Orange! I LIKE a 16" body better'n a 17 like on my 65 Gent that was just a tad too big for comfort.
Originally my choice would have been the Blond 6122-59, but, size does matter and so's the color. The fancy electricals would probably be wasted on me, but; oh well.
....no they wouldn't; I've got an independent thumb; I'd get another amp somewhere!
