Salty Dog, I'm an ex- Navy man myself (if thats why you call yourself Salty Dog?
Are you a Shellback or a slimey Wog?)
So, the Midnights are always calling....
But yes, the late night feeding had me started. I knew I was going to make the trip, and didn't want anyone else to find out where it was in case I lost it, so I was very hush about my intentions. I drove twice as far, payed several hundred more then before, and overall couldn't be happier. Well worth it.
Truthfully, I hung alot on the first Falcon.....'s, as I wanted it to represent my soon to be addition who is by far the greatest thing I've ever laid these tired eyes on or ever done. It would also be the milestone where my life is now which is very blessed.
When it had a hump in the road........(joke about the neck issues) I really let it bother me way more then needed. But, without Passion, I'm just bones and filler. When we dream about something it is usually big time. Thats What I wanted, I wanted the White Falcon to literally fly into my lap and have a cartoon like Halo glow.
In the end, It worked out. I got to buy it from a Pennsylvania dealer, helping pay my state taxes, and the lusting for an extra two months after having it in my hands twice was like climbing Everest and stopping 4 feet short of the summit. (Not exactly, but you get what I mean.) Very foreplay oriented....... I guess, I had Blue-Gulls..... giggles giggles
The guitar, plays seriously like one of the very best. I'm 6' 3" and my Phoenix fits like a glove. Best Action, etc etc.
This Falcon, does as well, and the secret is the Dynas. I may be a changed man. Finish, binding, and overall Hardware being tip top shape. I love the Dynas man.... love them. Action is low, and the Melita is totally cool.
I also look forward to swapping with Duncans as I hear the clips and really love that quack.
I'm serious when I say, and hopefully folks don't get mad, but this might be the ONLY downside to Fender taking over. And even in the beginning when production wasn't maybe as great as it is/was with Fender on board there wasn't one guitar, High-end or low-end, that had what came on those 2 Falcons. I owned 4, bought 3 sight unseen, and arrived almost perfect. (minor setups needed as usual).
Never, heard the buzz before or since. Not on a 5120 or Country Club. (Which by the way, was not one of my favorites until I played one.................... sweet sassy molassee are they nice. I got to see a caddy green in person....... OH MY!.)
Anyway, Like any Strat or Les Paul, there maybe a few of every model out there that has "less then 100%". That might be what I experienced; is the Growth and increased volume with quality/ quantity control issues. It also might be the only downside to Internet based ordering.
I never bought guitars without playing them until Al Gores time machine actually worked......
But I've bought and sold so many over the net that it jsut might be a matter of Statistics and finally caught up with me.
But all that aside, either way those other two were not meant for me, and I hope they get fixed or taken off the market so someone else doesn't get them.
Seemed before every one I picked up played like butter no matter where I was, so, to rate my overall Falcon buying experience, is maybe a "B". But in the end the Gretsch still gets an easy "A-"compared to others overall. The minus is for this bird flu I caught earlier.
I still feel very bad for Arm1151, and hope you get what you need brother. I may break some forum rules, but last I checked Dave's Guitars had one in Stock. They are a great dealer also.
In the end..... It is all good. I upped everyone since I feel like it. Thanks for the positive-ness. Thats why I love this forum.
