Saturday Tale About Twins

Sit yourself comfortable, I have a story to get your hearts racing this evening.

They were born in a far away land, where the sun rose from the sea. But their parents decided that it would be best for them to leave their large family and travel west to a small island and stay there in a small village.

They got separated on the way and arrived a few days apart but all villagers came out to see their reunion.

They were stunningly curvaceous and equally beautiful and almost impossible to tell apart.

Amongst their new neighbours there were a lot of their kin.

But they were the only twins around. They were born on the same day, only minutes apart.

And only one of them was to let me know her soul and share her life with me.

Epilogue

My sincere gratitude to all those who shared their knowledge and experience of Gretsch on this forum and helped me to research and to finally arrive at this point of ownership and enjoyment of one of the most beautiful instruments, guitar world has ever known.

Congratulations, Phobos, and thanks for the photos of one of the coolest guitar shops I've seen. At least I assume it's a guitar shop and not your music room.

Too bad it's such a long swim; I would sure like to hang out at Guitar village for a couple years!

Did you get pick-a the litter between these two?

great story, but theres nothing sader than seperating twins... i think you should return to the village and take her sister home with you, just so your new girl doesnt get lonely

I guess, it has been quite difficult to decide which one was "the one" in the end, as quality is very constant on new Gretsch guitars.

On a side note. It appears the serial number indicates it as an '07 but it has the anniversary badge...interesting!

Probably like GM, FoMoCo and Chrysler, Gretsch rolls out new models in the fall. I was just glad to have that 125th badge on mine. If I wait for the 08 serial number it might never arrive on these shores. All UK Gretsch supply apparently chanelled through some Dutsch destributor.

- I wish, or I wish so much, that be true. The shop was made up of a couple of houses knocked through, so that the stuff can always beat customers to whatever room via back passages.

- I spent an hour or so playing the same tune on both and could not see any difference at all. I event tried them alongside Annie (in the pix) and while I could tell her apart, I could not tell the Falcons.

- Both had a somewhat misaligned bridge (surprisingly after all these quality checks that are on the card) but it didn’t bother me much with the floating bridge as well as I have full intention of swapping it for a bar bridge. With otherwise equal quality I went for the number.

- At home she was greeted by a not so distant older cousin. They both will live under the counsel of the old maid, that spent nearly 20 years in my home. She does not come from the same noble background but her the name hails from the same land (though she was born in Taiwan) and she has never let me down.

Hey, congrats dude!!! Be careful with the guitar stand, When I bought my 6122-62 I bought a Hercules stand because I was informed that the cheaper stands might melt the lacquer on my guitar. I did know if my guitar had lacquer or not but I wasn't going to take the chance with my baby. I do not know if this is true or not buutttt, better safe than sorry!
