Polyfoam Case for 16” body Gretsch (6120/5420, etc)

1

I may be in the minority, but I like and use polyfoam cases. Have some Gator polyfoams that work for my Gibson acoustic and Tele, but haven't really seen anything that fits a Gretsch. Granted, I haven't really searched, but I thought I'd ask here. Anybody using a polyfoam case that fits their 16" body Gretsch and if so, where did you get them?

I haven't seen one, but I'd be interested to find one. They're nice and light cases.

Mac, that RHH looks awesome with all the black accoutrements! What's on the signpost?

Thanks Otter! It says Bad Luck Chuck, I commissioned Setzer to make the decal, I applied it to the back of the clear guard then sprayed it black.

Here's an older pic back when I had T-90s in it,

Awesome! How'd you like the T90s? Looks like you've got a T-Armond in the neck now?

I liked em, but they were too mid rangey for my style. I like the Classic bridge and T-Armond neck combo a lot, lately I've been almost exclusively playing in the middle position with the Classic's volume rolled back a hair. It's a nice twangy single coil tone. I've been thinking of putting a T-Armond in the bridge recently.

I got a "tric" case from Godin/Seagull designed for a dreadnaught and it fit my 5120 with a little surgery. I had to take a knife to the lining to cut a slot for the end pin.

Bob, that's more inline with what I'm looking for. Did you have to hack the case up much to get the guitar to fit? Any pics? Are you using a standard Gretsch end pin? I use Schallers which are a little shorter, might not have to cut into it..

Mono cases are cool, but I have an aversion to spending over $100 on a gig bag, heavy duty or not. Plus, a bandmate snapped the headstock on his Epiphone Casino after a Mono case slipped out of his hand, so I really don't trust the hype. He was walking to a gig through an icy parking lot, started to slip, dropped the case from his side to brace himself (case fell maybe 2.5 feet). He caught his balance and avoided a fall, but the guitar didn't fair so well. After he had the guitar repaired, he went back to a hardshell.

See how tight it fits?

I cut about a square inch out of the fur to make room for a a standard Gretsch end pin. You may not have to but you probably will because it fits so tight.
