Well it certainly has proven true, as said on the GDP many times, you get one Gretsch guitar, more than likely you will get another.I've always had major GAS for a Duo Jet w/ Dyna's. I was in my favorite local guitar shop (one of the few independent shops left in the area) and just for the heck of it asked for a price quote on a new 6128TDS. The quote seemed reasonable but in order to be able to make it work financially (and continue to stay married)I needed to trade or sell my Fender'52 Thin Skin Tele reissue ( a fantastic guitar that I just wasn't bonding with anymore...I'm not real comfortable w/ the longer 25 1/2 scale). Anyway, what sealed the deal was the very generous trade in I was given for the Tele (the price I actually paid for the Tele less 15%). Apparently this shop has a very generous trade in policy on any higher end guitars purchased there. So I'm getting the Jet for the Tele and a relatively small amount of cash
. My new 6128TDS should be arriving at the dealers in about two weeks, and I'm excited to say the least. Of course there is always some anxiety whenever I order a guitar sight unseen, but hopefully it will match the steller quality of my other Pro Gretsch. The Duo Jet w/ Dyna's should make a great companion for my 6116PTV Power Tenny.
Ordered my second Pro Series Gretsch

Excellent choice, i recently bought my 6128-1957 on which i have changed the bridge to a Tru-Arc one from Mr Proteus.
Those Dynas are awesome pickups, i really dont get why anyone is going for the Seymour Ds, that saying without heard our tried them out myself.

I agree with you that the Gretsch Dynas are excellent PUs. It's just that the SDs give you a little bit more of that "Gretschy tone" IMO. They're not necessarily better, just different. Also, the look of Gretsch Dynas always bugged me. When I would compare pictures of vintage and Gretsch Dynas, they never looked right to me. That being said, I'm not selling my Gretsch Dynas because I want to put them in another guitar at some point because they are great PUs.By the way, great score on the 6128. I would love to get one some day (or maybe a 6121).

Question for Dr. Nyl: As far as I can see, the 6128TDS I ordered comes stock with a bar bridge. You ordered a Tru-Arc bar bridge from Proteus (which look like a fantastic product)...was there a problem with the bar bridge on your '57 or were you just looking for a different tonal flavor? Also, did you need to add spacers to the Dyna's to get better tone? It's always great to get feedback from my fellow GDP'ers
.

Here's another question for anybody out there who might know. My 6116PTV Power Tenny was made at the Terada factory, where apparently most Pro Gretsches are made. However, I have heard that some of the Jets were being made at the Dyna Gakki factory (most specifically the now DC'ed 6128TSP...which seems like the identical model as the current 6128TDS...aged binding and inlays, bar bridge, etc). Obviously I'll know once I get my guitar..but I was just curious if all Pro Series production is at Terada now.

I'm kind of interested in the Tru Arc bridge. I have a 6122-62 SP 2005. Does this stock Gretsch bar bridge on the SP match the 12'radius of the fretboard? I thought the stock Gretsch bar bridge was 12 on these. I noticed in the upper register the high E and B strings really aren't as low as I would like them Its not bad by any means but it doesn't seem right, you know? I think there is room for improvement. I try to balance the low E side thumbwheel so the action is ok on the low E but even with the high e thumbwheel down fairly low the strings seem to rise toward the joint. I can't bring the bridge any lower on the high e because I get pretty bad fret out and buzz on the G and B strings.

My 6128TSP was made at Dyna Gakki and is equal in quality to my Terada guitars. The major difference? It has a chunkier neck and came stock with risers which placed the DynaSonics at the height recommended in Mal's Set Up Guide.
These days I think all of the Japanese Gretsches are coming out of Terada. It has been a long time since anybody has posted a Fuji Gen or Dyna Gakki model on the GDP.
Congratulations on the new 6128TDS. After a quick look at the specs I can't see any differences between it and the old TSP. Let us know how it goes
.
