I think long ago, maybe a year ago this clown was mentioned here as being a Gretsch player. Have not seen much about him here tho. Not only is he a Gretsch player but obviously a Gretsch fan too but does anyone of you know if he's a GDP member? If you are and reading this I'd like to say you have good taste in music even when you are clowning around. I'm referring to him as being a clown not as a put down but a literal thing because he is a clown. Check it out -
Is This Clown a GDP Member?

His website is in a foreign language. I was guessing it's in German but not sure, looks maybe more Dutch. I'm 1/4 German and took German in High School as my foreign language and I'm still not sure if his site is in German altho it looks kida Dutch. If it is German I wonder if he choose Gretsch originally because Gretsch is a German name. Regardless of why he choose to play Gretsch at first, I'm sure after playing one he became a big fan and that's why he has a Gretsch arsenal. So I'm really curious if this clown is a GDP member.

The language used on that site is definitely Dutch. The clown is from Alphen aan den Rijn Netherlands.

Maybe we should invite him to the European Roundup, were all kids playing with our toys ey!
BUT, the name "Snorre" meens something complete different in Swedish language, not appropriate at all

Jul 18, 2008 2:59 a.m. Danman:
Yes that is definitely dutch. Never heard of him but he likes his gretsches.
Snorre with a line through the o means nothing in dutch.
Or he is faking being scandinavian and maybe heard the word before and liked it's inappropriate meaning (anyway according to dr Nyl) wich I hope to hear more about at the round up.
Or he made up a silly way to say moustache in scandinavion but he doesn't have one so we'll write that one off.
Yep, he just heard a dirty swedish word and is miss-using it among all those innocent children. Should he be arrested or invited to the round up? You're the only one that can decide that, Dr.Nyl. What's your verdict?

He is welcome under his real name and without a Clownsuite.
And Snorre isnt that dirty, its just a childish word for a penis, Ooops - I said the notsodirtyword OUT in public!

Shouldn't the clown be added to the Gretsch list of their players?

I don't know if we should invite anyone to the roundup who refers to himself as 'clowns penis' and performs for little children.

But who knows, maybe he signed up already under his 'real gretschpages nickname'.
He definitely should be added to the gretsch list. He probably is the only one who performs like that......

Danman, he refers to himself as "clowns penis"? I didn't know that because I don't read Dutch or anything other than gold old English. Well if he calls himself that and performs in front of kids then he should be locked up and so should the kids parents who hire such a person.
I was just wondering if he is here as a member and doesn't admit it cause he thinks we won't take him seriously since he's a clown.

Hi DeArmond,
Well the penis (snorre) part isn't dutch and if Dr.Nyl hadn't told us that it is a childish swedish word for penis we never would have known.
I can imagine trying to hide your identity if you want to be taken seriouslty but go through life as a clown...
But on the other hand: we could all be child molestors faking as gretsch addicts hoping some little gretsch drops by..... With our nick names we are in disguise too, aren't we?

Jul 19, 2008 11:13 a.m. ClownSNORRE:
Hello everybody here I am Clown SNØRRE
I got a google alert today and so I became aware aout this discussion and I like to post my comments.
I love Gretsch Guitars and I'm very lucky that I now own several Gretsches. White Falcon, Purple Hot Rod 6120 and 2 Ranchers.
I perform as Clown SNØRRE for large groups of children and use my guitars to play a few songs/acts during my show.
In their eyes it is often just a white or purple guitar but sometimes I got comments that they really like my guitars. I hope one day they maybe will go play guitar and will remember these beautiful guitars.
I'm not Scandinavian but Dutch. I worked 2 times 3 months in Norway in a hotel in the Sognefjord and after that I did 10 years the PR & Marketing for teh Norwegian Tourist Board in Amsterdam/Holland.
That's where I heard the name SNORRE as a name from old Viking Kings histories. Actually it is SNØRRE but internet doesn't like the Ø so that's why often it is written as SNORRE and my site is http://www.clownsnorre.nl
I love this name it sounds very special better than just Clown John f.e. and I tell a story bout the Ø and let them hear a little Norwegian language. Children love that. I'm not aware of jokes and other meanings about this name like the man from Sweden mentioned.
I know, and hear them often, that it is so easy to make jokes about "dirty clowns". I hate that and I really don't like to be put down as a dirty clown. I like to do my shows for hundreds of children and give them a nice time and hope they will remember my acts, my songs and wonder how I can do the magic tricks. There is absolutely nothing dirty about that.
I recently made a cd with children songs. To give you an impression about my songs and performance watch my clip on youtube: search for clown snorre or go directly to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p2pO11byao
I certainly hope this discussion can now go further in a right way and I hope to hear from you all.
I'm not a "nonsense"clown but really work hard and do my best to make a nice and good performance. I invest all my money in making my show better and sometimes I'm in the lucky position that I now could buy some real Gretsches after years of dreaming about them.
I play for about 25 years now, I'm not a special good guitar player but I am good enough to play my songs and do my acts. I love to play and I have fun with it.
When I saw and heard Brian Setzer with his Gretsches i thought "Wow" what a beautiful guitar and what can this man play!
In september I will see him perform in Amsterdam with the Stray Cats Goodbye tour. Now I'm allready enjoying the idea to go there.
Wish you all good luck and fun in playing and if you have any further questions or comments please let me know!
Wim Hoekstra / Clown SNØRRE
I couldn't find where I can post a few pictures with my guitars?

Thanks for writing! You've been the topic of a few discussions, and I've been collecting some of the pictures. Besides having Gretsch in common, I appreciate anyone with a good sense of humor, love of children, appreciation of his heritage and the courage to do what he enjoys.
I hope you'll be a regular contributor here.

Welcome ClownSNORRE, my intent was absolutely not to rack down on you, your artistname is as i see it just coincidential, and on a list of the most common used word for the male thang here in Sweden its a long way down.
And your love for Gretschguitars is obvious.
