Help? advice on used 6120

1

So I just got my 6120 used from GC. I posted pics in my last post on here this morning but it was buzzing and sounded worn. I just got back from talking to my tech who is one of the better techs in Texas and he said I got robbed!

He told me the frets were waay too worn out to be sold near the 1500 (1700 with shipping and tax) price point. He said I could get them re-worked a nice set up (milled I think he called it) for around 150-200 but I would still eventually have to re-fret in a couple years because they are so low. My other option is to return it to GC, which I am leaning towards...

I called GC and they will either give me a $200 credit (which I would get the work done with) or I can get a refund at a local store (shipping included). I do love this guitar, but am starting to feel like I am getting screwed over. I don't know if I like it as much as I like the idea of geting my $1700 back...

thoughts???

Return it and get this one instead maybe http://www.streetsoundsnyc....

I have had good dealing with Street Sounds. I bought a mint Black Falcon that was in pretty much new condition.

Your call, but I think I'd be inclined to return it and call Rocky directly to see what he has on hand and what kind of deal he can work for you.

A refret is going to be $225 and up.

Streetsounds...call Rocky. Give GC their guitar back. There are a lot of g6120s out there in the world looking for a good home. :|

If you'd paid a lower price point...I'd say get the refret done and move forward. But for 1700....

BUT. Why did you buy the guitar? Did you play it first? Did you fall in love with the way it felt? there is no way to define a good price on a guitar that fits you well. Consider that before you get rid of it and pick up a guitar that you might not get to play first. the neck may feel off....the finish might stick the wrong way....just think of these things first.

At the end of the day, YOU need to be happy, so do what needs to be done. And good luck.

Yes, good. You'll put that very same money into a terrific guitar from Rocky.

yeah, like Shadow said ...how old is it.... maybe you have an oldie... i paid less than that for mine at streetsounds and it was like brand new....not one bit of fretwear, not one scratch, it was more than new…it's the one on the right in the pic.... i love it.. Rocky Rules
