It's super official now. They're up on the site. Looking good.
Like the bound F-holes.

Weren't they supposed to be a bit thinner than the earlier models? Either they messed up the specs (common for Fender/Gretsch) or they are just like the previous version.

Here's a few differences on the specs that I found on mine:
"Ebonized" rosewood fretboard and the body measures 2" top to bottom at the upper and lower bout.
The body does measure 2.25" by the bigs??? So, not sure how Gretsch is measuring for specs.
Another difference on the white is that the pick guard is gold, not silver.

They sure do look good.

glad to see them up on the site, but the specs need clarification, for sure.

I am passionately in love with the G5422TDCG. Anybody interested in a used but still effective kidney?

Nice to see a long-scale bass in there!

I was eyeing the 12 string G5422DC-12. Nice, but if they had it in red (think Mike Nesmith) they would already have a sale before I knew what hit my wallet.

Sure would like to win one of these at Round Up:

Other than the red, 6-string Monkees Model (G6123), I've never seen Mike N. play a red, 12-string guitar. His G6076 was blonde/natural and I've also seen him play a (one-off) 12-string Tennessean.

Mine (in caddy green from MF) also measures 2" across the sides - maybe they're including the arches in their measurement? The rosewood fingerboard isn't ebonized on mine, however - it's nicely striped reddish brown, almost Brazilian-looking. Loving the guitar, btw

I was wondering if they were going to use maple for the body and I'm glad to see they are. Another interesting feature that is different than the 5120 is the sound post bracing.

Do you have a difference in thickness (top to bottom) depending on where you measure?????
I've never noticed this before, but if I measure binding to binding/top to back at the cutouts, I get 2". If I measure the same way where the Bigs is installed, I get 2.25"
So, at least on mine, the sides taper from 2.25" at the bigs, to 2" by the cutouts, where it meets the neck???
Tapered body feature LOL

It's pretty customary for most archtop manufacturers measure body depth at the thickest point-- e.g. from the apex of the top to the back, NOT at the edge.
Measuring this way also allows you to properly figure body depth when buying a case. Measuring at the edge won't get you there.

Agreed, but I've never seen/noticed a difference on the side thickness measurements before this one????

This is why depth is no longer a field in the Gretsch-GEAR database. Even for smart, knowledgable folks, getting an accurate measurement is nearly impossible.

Does anyone note a difference in body thickness between the 5122 and the 5422? Or the 5120 and the 5420? I had a 5420 for a brief period, measured the body thickness against my three 5120's. There was no difference. My assumption was that it was a 5120 body, routed for BT Filtertrons, with binding on the F holes. As for body thickness, I think it plays a role in tone, and is therefore, important. Case in point: I put GFS Surf 90's in a 5122 and did not like the result. I tried them in a thicker 5120, and loved the tone. (X 3 5120's)

Pretty cool...... I like my Annie....now a big ass 17" other than flat black, would catch my attention....but then again that White Double Cut is a hollarin' at me

Wow!!! Those are beautiful. I just finished painting the f-holes on my G5120:

I've begun feeling the GAS for a dyna white falcon.
This electro would keep that at bay for a while. My only gripe with it is the 24.5" scale and -I presume- the 16" body, but I guess that would make it a very nice livingroom falcon.

Dynas wouldn't drop in, but TV-HTs would...

I'm having trouble seeing why I wouldn't want one....damn I wasn't suppose to think that.
