I recently won an auction for a 2004 Firebird for $1035! A vague description, dark pictures, and the low E off the saddle seemed to keep the bidding down. After asking, the seller described the guitar as new, but the photos showed smudges all over the guitar. Smudges, scratches... who knows until you actually see the instrument. The seller had 1400+ positive feedbacks, so I felt good about his description.
It arrived showing some fret wear near the cowboy chords and some face scratches near the bridge. The Synchro had been replaced by a roller bridge. Not my favorite, but it stays in tune. Anyone want to swap for a rocker bar bridge? It came with 9s or 10s, I slapped a new set of Elixir 11s on it. That really stiffened the overall feel of the guitar. After some minor setup tweaking, it played great. I still need to fine tune the pup poles. Electronics are all quiet.
The best part is that I received a 10% off coupon from eBay, which gave me $100 off the puchase. Total out of pocket with shipping: $965. Very sweet deal.
