The hands belong to Lindsey, T.V. Jones assistant and bodyguard, who is about to demonstrate some Crane-style Kung Fu on you for taking unauthorized photographs.

Definitely Lindsey's hands. I have no idea what they're doing in this thread but she looks like a fun person to be around.

OK, Lindsey was the first person to ever play a CGP with the TVJ pickups.

Jul 11, 2008 11:58 p.m. Gretschmaster:
Those are Lindsey's (T.V. Jones' assistant) hands and she seems to be using them to try to describe the unique sound of the stereo pickup.

That's it, she's pantomiming stereo.

Thats Lindsey throwing up the super secret TV Jones gang sign.

"pantomiming"
Ah, yes, that's the word I was looking for.
Proteus, TV looks like he's getting fed up with the silly branding pose and your camera in his face.

Jul 12, 2008 12:29 a.m. Gretschmaster:
Or, on the other hand, maybe he's just very stern.

Jul 12, 2008 12:32 a.m. Mark Synchro:
Wouldn't you be stern if your assistant was pantomiming the stereo effect?

- Rated: 21 ↑
Jul 12, 2008 12:52 a.m. Gretschmaster:
Yeah, probably, I would imagine also being a bit puzzled too. (as to whether she was actually pantomiming [which she so obviously is], getting ready for a crane-style kung fu showdown, or just dropping the latest gang sign)
Baxter, where is the Stern face? It would be like the "whatthe" face but with flat eyebrows.

Hmmm... I'm going to hazard a guess that Lindsay is in fact Lindsey Jones - TV's daughter, and that she's learning the craft from her dad. She also helped him develop the tricky new wiring harness for the CGP. Maybe? Possibly? Just a guess...

Ah so, all very good guesses. As you all astutely recognized, it was indeed TV's lovely assistant Lindsey. And she IS a fun person to be around.
And in fact, some of your answers begin to skew toward the truth of the matter. But not the pantomiming-stereo theme, nor the Kung Fu, nor the CC Debilitated business.
I can take some of the answers already received, but let's see if we can't develop this further. I'll provide a hint, which is "Abigail Ybarra." And another: "MJ."

Are her hands cramped from winding pickups

Jul 12, 2008 2:16 a.m. Timthom62:
She's demonstrating the unique winding method used to create a stereo pickup. It's either that or the kung fu thing. Maybe both.

Jul 12, 2008 2:47 a.m. Gretschmaster:
She must be demonstrating some type of pickup winding technique.

She's a master obscurist... on the wall behind the cameraman she has cast the silhouette of Chet playing the prototype... In it's true colour!

She actually wound the stereo pickups for the new CGP.

CGP sounds very good in stereo mode. Perhaps there'll be more regular stereo models in the future? As for the question, it's TV's Lindsey showing pickup wiring harness...

I'm beginning to think that the shadow puppet explanation might not be so far off. :)

Jul 12, 2008 8:51 a.m. Boyko:
Abigail Ybarra, a Fender legend who has been with the company since 1956. She has wound pickups for pretty much everyone, and they are among the most sought after pickups in the world.
The above is from a site online. So I'm gonna guess two things. Either this girl is a relative of Abigal, maybe granddaughter? Or Abigal helped with the pickups on the CGP and Lindsey helped by getting in contact with Abigal. Or maybe she is Abigal's protegé?

I do believe she is holding up the "X" as in Billy Zoom, as in, they must be put into the RnR hall of fame.......

Ah so, Mark nails it EXACTLY, and a bunch of you hit all around it.
Boyko found the Abigail Ybarra legend, and MJ is the lady who winds DynaSonics at Seymour Duncan.
As for Lindsey, she's not Tom's daughter – his kids are younger. But he IS teaching her to wind pickups, and she did indeed wind the stereo pups (a very tedious job because the bobbins are so small, she says).
I mention the older pickup-winding ladies (from two different generations) to suggest that Lindsey is picking up (so to speak) in the same tradition. Fifty years from now, she may be legendary!
For their diligence and wit, I'm giving away more of Joe's Pickers Pokes to Boyko, ScottieDawg, bonedaddy, TimThom, and the ever-faithful Mark S.
But you HAVE to promise never to use anything you keep in the bag with non-Gretsch guitars. (I mean, if you even HAVE such things.)
That would peeve Lindsey mightily, and we DON'T WANT THAT.

Sounds of the CGP Parte Deux
But enough of that frivolity, and back to the main event here. Why do I let you guys distract me?
I have more pics of players befuddling their senses with stereophonic fingerpickery, and at least another 40 minutes of oddio, including a short piece by our own Richard Hudson.
(Richard found that the stationary Chet handle on the Bigsby was SO badly in his way that he couldn't find his position and gave the guitar up early. I mentioned that the guitar came with a hacksaw, and got dirty looks from a stander-and-watcher. I must remember to quit JOKING about this guitar.)
Here we have Gary Lambert, of Hemet CA, and Lynn laying it down...
once,
twice,
three times in stereo.
.
Ron Wise (of Willow, Alaska), Richard Hudson, and Jerry Ozee went by so fast I didn't get pics of Richard or Jerry. I did get their audio, though.
Ron Wise on the CGP
Richard Hudson of the GDP on the CGP.
...and Jerry Ozee, you see.Ron Wise:
.
Bob Saxton, of Laurel MS, was next.
.
Bobby Gibson finishes out this CGP demo set, with a lovely pic of the plush gig bag to entertain your eyes. (Bobby's liking the idea of the 6120 in a gig bag, because he's sure he can carry it on and stow it when he flies. His 6122-59 in its case sometimes causes trouble, and he does NOT want to check it or even gate-check it.)

All very nice and thanks for the super job of reporting as usual Tim, is any of this finger picking rubbing off on you?
I hope to attend one of these before I leave this earth, only a 2 hour drive, couldn't go this week as I've been loading out corn.
