FMIC has done a great job making Gretsch guitars more historically correct. But what if you could put your favorite Gretsch features in one guitar?
How about a trestle braced 6120 with hump blocks, filters, tone pot, pinned bridge, locking tuners, in anything other then orange. No zero fret or mud switch please. Sort of like a Setzer meets Duane Eddy model.
Blasphemy - The Non Historically Correct Wish List

How about this:
A Blue (!) Country Club with gold hardware, Bigsby, 3 x TV Jones Supertrons (I LOVE the looks of these pickups), tone switch, hump blocks, ...
Very very blasphemous!

Or this:
A Cady green double cutaway Club with Dynasonics, Bigsby, tone switch, Spruce top, 2.5" body depth, ...
Auch! That hurts!

I always wondered what a Double cut Country Gent would be like with Dynas.

I don't know if it's historically accurate or not but an acoustic G400c in natural would win my heart.

Blue Country Club. Dynas. Chrome (or, better, nickel) hardware & copper mist pickguard. Bigsby. A smaller headstock. Treble bleed on the master volume. Thumbnail inlays (although I'd settle for humps.)
Or the same guitar in a different sunburst than the stock version (which I think is too contrasty.) Something like my old ES125's burst. In which case, gold hardware would be OK, and a tortoiseshell pickguard.

As in another thread, a white gretsch that ISN'T a falcon.
Pretty much a white anni, but with dyna's, and sperzels.
There are a lot of things about certain model gretsch's that are complete deal breakers for me. e.g. on the setzer's, the fretboard radius is NOT for me. And a lot of the 6120's have gold hardware. What's wrong with humble nickel? There aren't enough of the pro-lines with straight up nickel plating.
Oh ya, not a fan of zero frets either, but a big fan of modern tuning machines like sperzels as stock features. -

A G6120W-1957 with compound fingerboard radius and 6105 frets, a FAT V neck profile, like on my CS '56 strat, pinned bridge, strap-locks, all nickel hardware, silver scratchplate, in - err - a groovy colour I don't have a name for, like a faded transparent teal green...

I wish they would make a replica of the '59 Gent that Chet played..... oh wait, they do. Never mind.

I found mine, and love it.
An '05 Falcon, that I bought with the "G" tailpiece.
I put the V cut Bigs on it, it has the vertical logo with wings, MOP engraved Humps, Filters and the mud switch.
Just what I would have ordered, if I could have "special" ordered one.
I guess I'm a lucky guy getting a Gretsch just the way I wanted it, and only having to add the Bigsby of my choice. Pretty painless process for me :) -

I like the green Gent, and of course the midnight blue Club (oft desired in the pages) - though the 3 SuperTrons go too far for me!
Dynas on a doublecut Gent are an intriguing idea.
As per a thread in the archives, I think the Tenny is begging for a triple-Hilotron version.
A white Gent would be a fine thing as well. -

Tripple puppers seem to be on several of our respective minds.
I find this pic in the depths of my hard drive, a mockup of a Gretsch Switchmaster Club. -

Yeah, the flame maple top is pretty garish. It's actually supposed to have spruce.
That's not a tone switch up there, it's an additional pup switch. Between the two 3-way switches, you can get any combination the 3 pups. (7 total.)
The extra knob gives you a volume for each pup and a master tone.
It should have a movable Chet arm, not the stationary one.
But you know you want one. What's not to like? -

Now don't you be disparaging the good name of flame maple.

Maybe it's just me, but the triple HiLo's look goofy. Too much "going on" IMO.
The triple Dynas look "at home" to my eyes.

I agree the triple HiLos look too crowded. Less flashy/smaller pickup rings might make a difference.
I don't like the wall-to-wall look either. But it's functionality I was going for. The single-coil spank-n-sparkle of the Tenny begs to speak in a Strattier voice. -

Let's take that Strat thing al ittle further: Maybe the best pickups to have in a set of three ar the Dyna's. Not too big, sparkly, brilliant sound, ideal for the "out of phase parallel" kind of in between sounds. (not my favourite, but it would make the guitar very versatile.) I'd still go for the double cutaway in this concept. Like a Strat. And I 'm keeping the tone switch. There's an extra volume pot to blend in the middle pickup as you wish into the normal 3 settings. Works really good with my Firebird.

I will take a roundup with TV Jones Classics. That is pretty simple!
Also, a Pearl Jet with Dynas would be cool.
Also, how about a black jet with western motifs? An orange brand on the body? Maybe "tuxedo style with a white brand....or perhaps a caddy green with western motifs? Just thinking aloud here....
Oh, yeah, I would like some new Hot-Rod 6120s, with sparkle paint or even factory graphics, like animal prints.
I will hide now. -

yep I'd go for a Black Club with Dynas and chrome or nickel hardware.
I played a Dyna Black Falcon recently and it was sublime. The thought of essentially the same guitar without all the gold stuff and fancy crap really appeals to me! -

I can't afford the Club that would have me as a member, but my poor-man's version:

I've found some wider tape to cover the entire side, and will be making a white acrylic pickguard as well as binding the headstock & f-holes.
