What has the Roundup done to your GAS?

Being part of a Gretsch Roundup gives a guy a chance to meet some great like-minded people. But it also lets you taste some really nice gear.

So what GAS did you get from your Roundup experience?

I'll go first.

I know understand the magic of vintage instruments and if good fortune comes my way, I will get one of those oldies.

I really want to try a ZVex Box Of Rock on my amp. One of the best dirt boxes I've heard in a long time.

Before the Roundup I never gave a Tenny with Hi-Lo's much thought. But Rocketman's had so much rock n' roll attitude. My next (hollowbody) guitar might become a 6119-1962HT.

After Nashville, I came home wanting a couple of items.

A vintage Fender Bassman, thanks to JBGretschguy. I almost bought a '64 a few weeks ago, but the guy wanted too much. I ended up with a RI '59 LTD... And a Zinky Blue Velvet. That was a heck of a consolation prize.

A G6128TCG Duo Jet. Proteus brought his and I loved the tone, no matter who was playing it. I may settle for a 6128DS, but a Jet with Dynas is way up on my list.

A Tim pedal. RoadJunkie brought his, and now I'm on the waiting list. That will bring my total number of pedals to eight. How I ended up with all these is something I don't want to think about.

Honorable mention: Pappy's and Baxter's Annies. Equipped with Powertrons or Classics, ML or trestele bracing, I just had no idea they sound so good! Just goes to show that sometimes playing/hearing guitars in the store is just not enough.

And a Dyna-Jet, for the same reasons Doug says above. That Cad Jet just made me a believer.

Oh and when the drummer left I sat there quite a while "drumming" real sucky but I would love to learn to really play drums.

Well, It is pretty silly that I still have GAS. Have had it along time and it continues and probably will never stop.

But after this round up I also have more AAS then I had before: I really liked Will's Ampeg!

But I noticed that I really only need some more SAS (skills acquisition syndrome)

After Nashville I thought it would be great to have a Club, a Corvette and Josh's '59 6120.

But the biggest GAS bite came from everyone's amps. There was a very wide spectrum of sounds and I don't think I played with any distortion on any of them (or if they did distort it was due to volume).

After Nashville, I was left smitten with a few things:

Josh's '59 - What an amazing guitar.

Tim's Caddy Green Jet & his Ampeg amp - the search is on.

The Roundup prototype that Tartan Phantom won - Daddy like.

As soon as I get the money to fix the roof & send the kids to college, I'll be ready to make my move.

One other thing I was left looking forward to is the next time we all get together. Tullytown was a blast, Nashville was an amazing time, and I can't wait for the South Jersey Jam.

Tried many but never had one, but after the Roundup i desperately need a hollowbody with Filters/TVJs.

I was impressed by basically every modern Gretsch I picked up that day. They have come such a long way in just a few short years, thanks to Mike and Joe and crew.

+1 for everybodys answers! I liked everything I saw in Nashville!

The Executive? I'm hoping with the new TopHat coming I can drop my load of gas for this amp. The clean American type tone should be covered.

I want a dyna'd Jet!!! Firebird I think. The BZ would have been prefered but too much and too sparkly! I could overlook the sparkle though.

I NEED a filtered 6120 of some sort! Doesn't matter if it's TV'D, vintage,Green Orange or purple with spots. With cash in hand and running across a 59 like Josh's in a New York minute! I just don't see myself sitting thru ebay auction after auction after...............for one!

If the TopHat plays as planned I need a vintage Ampeg as my next amp! The M-15 I've been watching is still in the store. Gotta feeling if I don't move soon it's gone!

And last but not least! A SPACE ECHO!!!

I'm with you on the Firebird. I was just playing that Club tonight, with big ole' flat 12s on it. MAN it sounded incredible.

I had it wide open, with low amp volume, so I got every sparkle out of it. Just heaven. I was thumping some finger style stuff and thinking how cool it was to be making that Club sing.
