I don't know how to say this without sounding mean or rubbing it in....
But MAN you missed out!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, we know, but give us the LINK(s), or something to share....
I did, but for anyone who missed it: http://www.flickr.com/groups/gp08/
I can't tell you how much I would have loved to have been there but the blues fest in Chicago was pretty cool too.
I'm sure it was OK, but really, it's hard to describe how cool this event was.
From the unbelievable generosity on the part of Joe Carducci and Fred Gretsch to the indescribable atmosphere to the awe-inspiring camaraderie... I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it.
Hey Bax ,congrats on the Annie
I wish i didn't live so far away,
this is something you all will be talking about for years ,well ,until the next one!
Thanks Bax, missed it in the other thread & congrats on the Annie.
Yeah, I missed the other post too. Thanks for posting the link again. I really do feel like I missed out, and I knew I would. At least with the pics I don't feel COMPLETELY out of the loop. I am glad everyone there had a great time.
Enjoy that Annie! You work hard to make this forum work, I don't know of anyone who deserves it more.
Assuming that this Roundup will happen again next year, same time and same place, I'm going to start making plans NOW...
Aw nuts...
Me too...if I have enough notice and gas isn't through the roof...I'll be there.
If everything goes as planned, I won't have too far to drive next year!!
I sure wish I could have made it this year. It was just too far with these CRAZY gas prices!! It looks like it was really a cool deal.
I'll echo that congrats to you too Bax. You most definitely deserved that Anni!! How do you like it anyway? I haven't heard you say. I know I know, Dumb Question.
Aproxx. 744 miles from HBG to Nashville. Filled up 3 times down and 3 times back. John(Crowbone) and Curt made this trip easier on the purse. Breaking down added to the expense I think the room was 80 thank you John! Getting an alternator ran 234 with the service call(John said he wasn't covering that!
)
Every mile=priceless!
Gas was a little cheaper in Tenn. compared to NC. Scott, I had a car load. Next time lets get together and make the trek!
Deal!

860 from my house to Nashville and I couldn't agree more Road Junkie...Priceless!
I just posted the pics where we broke down with the Donught shop across the street from the Police station! Right in Al Gore's home town.
Setzer and Scott, you want to swing down and get me too? Gas is a lot cheaper when three folks are paying for it and I think Greyhound might have scared me off for good.
Yes I missed out - too far for me by a few 1000 miles. And as a matter of interest how much does gas cost in the States on average? My Merc runs on diesel and it costs around £1.29 to over £1.40 per Litre depending where in Britain you are. Don't what that is in Dollars though.
It's about $7.00 per gallon here in Ireland, I don't know what you guys are on about with your 'crazy gas prices'!
I like that pic where you are all having dinner. Is that kind of a who's who of the GDP?
Can somebody identify those people for me?

I can't speak for Paul but as far as I'm concerned once equipment and spouses(not in that order) are loaded in, if we got room I don't see why not!
Russ we can work something out!
I hope that another Ga. GDPer, Bryan K., makes the trek next time. You guys are near each other right?
Did someone talk about gas prices? Today in sweden a gallon costs in dollars 8.72 Thats something to consider when you planning a trip. Have a nice summer.

I think why everyone's concerned is at least here in Ponca City, USA the average person makes $5-$6 an hour and something like $8-$10 an hour if they're lucky (...this was a town that used to have $30,000 to six figure a year households till the oil company pulled out). Wages have not gone up at all since gas rose from the $2 per gallon to the $4.00 a gallon range where it is today. So, if you fill up your 12 gallon tank for most people it's one day's worth of work just to buy gas. If they would raise wages accordingly the price of gas wouldn't matter. There used to be an expression that went "gas is cheap". That's gone. The other thing is the USA is not very good with mass transit. Most countries have mass transit and unfortunetly the USA is just a tiny bit bigger than other countries in the world (...hell, multiple countries would fit in Texas alone). Here in Ponca, it is not possible to ride a bike or even walk to work. Things are just too far apart. There is no city bus system. There is no subway. Taxi's are more expensive than just driving yourself. That is the problem. All of this brings people's mood down and makes for a pretty volatile cocktail. Lot's of folks on edge here. We've lost 2 restaurants and a lumber yard in the last 2 months not counting the other businesses we've lost this past year. You cannot got to a bar without a fight or a beer bottle broken over someones head (I'm very serious on this. We had an Indian lady get clocked twice in the head in the same night with a Budlight bottle). Drug's are increasing. A lot of people are dealing since there are not as many legal ways of making money. The gas issue is opening a whole other can of worms. Europe was a bit more prepared for it whereas we Americans where totally suprised when it hit. There was no time to prepare or change one's lifestyles. So it wasn't a transition but a brick wall. Something really does need to change because I really don't want to invision where this city will be or what it will look like if it does not. We're not talking just about people's budget being affected - we're talking about the weakening of the United States of America. Not trying to be negative but at least around here you cannot escape someone talking about the price of gas. You're greeted with it in the morning, at work and even when your trying to forget about it. I have never seen this city this low and never thought I ever would. I'd never wish what's happening here on anyone's town.
I personally am welcoming the day of the all electric car. I am personally done with oil companies. When you're on the good side with them it's great but when you're not it's bad.
Oh yeh, after all that doom and gloom it's great to see the Roundup was a success. I'll definetly be at the 2nd annual one. The jam session you all had sounded like a lot of fun. I've been to several Summer NAMM's and believe me the pics I saw of the Roundup blow away anything I've seen at NAMM there. No "margine, margine" that, no "if you buy x amounts of pieces we'll give you free freight, blah, blah" - just a bunch of people having some fun with guitars and music. Pretty awesome. You don't see that much at NAMM...
Joel, well done, sir.
And regarding the Roundup, I have to say that it is precisely, utterly, fully what we dared to sort of dream it could be...one day. What we could never predict was the spirit that made it what it was...from Joe, Phila, Fred, and every GDPer in attendance. It was astounding.
There was never the slightest pretense, no discomfort, ego, selfishness. What made this event a remarkable experience was that there was an abundance of the exact opposite of those things. We were at home.
The giveaways that Joe brought...extraordinary and simply beyond reason. But then this had nothing to do with reason. Passion. Excitement. Sharing. That's what this thing really was, and in a truly special setting befitting of our Gretsch. And Joe simply did anything he could think of to blow us out of the water.
Can you really get the significance of the moment, standing around the bonfire in the darkness...witnessing Fred Gretsch actually making his mark...reviving the Brand...symbolically and literally? It was the coolest thing I've seen since Iwo Jima.
What I want to see is a big return for Gretsch as a result of this roundup. I mean the head count at the most was what? 35 maybe! It should almost be manditory that anyone who attended their next new purchase should be Gretsch! Mine will be! That was planned out already............oh the bass amp doesn't count! Gretsch doesn't make one!
I'll tell you what! After this shindig I think there's a greater appreciation for the Gretsch amp lineup! Gotta scape some funds for that Executive!
All I can say is after what this company did for us is.......................Orville who???????
