Well, when I'm wrong I admit it, nobody is wearing wooden shoes. I guess I owe Proteus $5.

Oh yes, I forgot, sorry Proteus, I guess I owe you five bucks too because the men at the nashville round up didn't all have matching hawaii shirts, grey shorts, a fishing cap with hooks dangling from it and a camera hanging on their stomach and the women didn't have purple hair, white flowery skirts and a botox grin and they actually stayed more then 2 hours instead of getting back on the bus and doing 5 round ups in a day.

Japan is too dangerous for me. Too many cool and exotic guitars one can buy there.
The GAS attack would kill me!
JC:
Yeah that would be impossible to come away from the factory without buying a guitar
Nobody:
Oooh. That's a brutal idea.
You all talk like leaving the factory with a spanking new Gretsch would be a BAD thing.
Listen to the Devil on your shoulder.
Sometimes he gives great advice.

That's only because I didn't show up.

A Japanese roundup... when the cost of the plane ticket costs more than the guitar I'm definitely out, or is that in? I don't know.

Hey guys,
I'm back from Italy, and finally had some time to read through this tread while listening to Radrods CD
great stuff on there man! RnR
Seeing the pictures again makes me want to get on the train for another round up.
I really apriciate your comments about my playing, and I can't deny the Hendrix connection. Hearing Voodoo Chile on the radio 15 odd years ago made me want to take up guitar, but Mark Knopfler definately had just as much of an impact on me. Not that my playing is remotely in the league of those two.
Other than that I can't say much that hasn't already been said. But I sure can repeat some of it, hehe. I agree that everybody contributed with their personality and style of playing, like Dr Nyl and Will both had their unique bluesy feel, Radrods rock-a-billy riffing, Danmans really rockin' RnR and Rocketmans ballsy surf.
One of the great things for my, aside from the great company and the great vibe, was of course trying out all the guitars and amps. I don't think I got to try Dr Nyls Duo Jet, but it sure had a great sound through Danmans Deluxe Reverb RI.
The best gear related stuff for me was:
Danmans old 6120 - it's just way cool, great playing, and really strong sounding. Good thing I have a SSLVO that is great too. But I understand why someone would lay down BIG bucks for an old 6120.
Trying Rocketmans '67 Tenny trough Wills old Ampeg Reverb Rocket reminded me that I really like Hilos. Great easy playing guitar, and the thin body gives a different but comfy feel.
My '58 Gent RI sounded really good through Danmans Deluxe Reverb. I NEED a fender amp... or something which has the same sort of clean sound.
For better and worse I'm looking forward to hearing the sound clips.
Cheers,
Sjolte

Ha ha P, we'll discuss it at the round up in the US that I will attend sometime in the future but I won't forget, don't worry. I always am cautious of sending money over the internet, it might disappear, I rather bring it, or do you fancy a beer.

PS: if someone is wearing hawaii and a fishing cap the deal is off.

Hi Sjolte,
welcome back, how was it?
I would like to hear the soundclips too, haven't been able to get in touch with Will, maybe he just is very busy.
Was great for us too, see you around here and at the next round up. I'll try to practice before then.

Hi Danman, thanks it was great. The trip was work related but great none the less. We were at a tiny village in the Alps, more like Austria than Italy. It was mostly lectures, discussions and projects, but the food was magnificant and plenty (the wine was plenty too!). The worst thing was that it was two weeks with out my guitars. But we are now happily reuniounified, and my fingers are sore
I did get a mail from Will, and replied, but havn't heard from him since. So, yeah, he might be busy.

Well you were in the right place for food and drink. Italy is always a good place to dine.
While we are waiting for Will you have time to build up your callouses again.
see you, Daniel

I think hilos need an AC15 or 30 though. It sounded shitty on your guy's amps. Hey Sjolte you forgot being modest about how we liked your singing.

Bring your AC15 next time and we'll give it a go... I still liked the Hilos through the Deluxe and the Ampeg, though.
I'm really not a singer, but sometimes I sing at home by my self. I'm glad if my singing was OK at the roundup. Was that modest enough Rocketman?

Will is probably busy working on the CD's. In the meanwhile he did send me a clip of Sjolte's Little Wing with Petra singing. It takes a minute before everyone is warmed up but after that it's magic! The sound quality is great.
I would like to have tried Rocketman's Tenny on my Engl Classic. It can make low output pickups come alive with a twist of the gain knob.
Sjolte, you're way to modest. I generally don't like Hendrix but I loved it when you played it.
Oh, I nearly forgot. Thanks, people, for the comments on my shoes.

Hey Radrod,
Yeah it was a nice surprise with Petra singing. I think we (I) were a few bars off to begin with, but that was resolved after a bit of messing around.
It was one of those nice things that happen during a jam.
Glad you liked it. If I'm modest it's only because I know my own shortcomings.
Cheers

All jokes aside, I am not blaming your amps. I am blaming the Hilo's which out tone most you guys stuff when played on a proper Vox. And I am serious. I have also experienced that high output guitars don't sound so well on a Vox. I am not a pickup scientist or an amp scientist, at all. But the strat doesn't seem very high output to me either, and it sounds great on a Vox. George Harrison sounded great on the Tennessean, but he had a Vox. I sound great on a Tennessean as well, but I didn't bring a Vox.
