Thanks Joe,
Next time you will be there too?
And like the others mentioned, feel free to take along as many give aways as you want but for now we are very happy with the certificate.

Hey guys, congratulations on what looks like it was really an extraordinary event. And what a great lineup of guitars you guys had! Sjolte's Gent had quite a unique grain pattern...really a hot looking guitar! Can't wait to hear some of the recordings of the event.
Seeing the inside of that pub really reminded me a lot of the years that I spent living in southern Germany. (By the way, Proteus, where are your ancestors from in southern Germany?)
Again, fellow, many congratulations on your successful Roundup. Like bonedaddy said, I am eagerly anticipating our own Northern California / Northern Nevada GDP Roundup in late October. It should also be a fun time.
Thanks Ric, it was great fun and yes there were very nice guitars. I actually enjoyed playing some of the modern ones (and I usually am very stubborn and only like the old ones)
Good luck with your own round up. Can't wait to hear about that!
A larger European Gretsch Round Up.
Let's get started.
I mean this is great stuff it's now two days later but it is great stuff. We could be like a motorcycle club or something.
And next time we really need the satellite pep talk by mr Gretsch on a big flat TV screen.
thank you Joe, very nice indeed, including the unexpected document.
i just finished editing the recordings: i got two full cd's worth of listenable music out of the four and half an hour of recordings. nice ratio, gentlemen!
i'll pm for details.
and Rocketman, i really like your style, you're a great picker too, besides all the rock 'n' roll. i love that ventures stuff (it is ventures is it?!)
and yeah, next time we NEED that sattelite-speech!
I did some Ventures stuff yeah. Walk don't run or something. I think the Tennessean did not get any justice. Next time we need a cranked AC-15 or AC-30 to check the guitars out.

This was a very enjoyable read and it sure looks like you all had a truly wonderful time. It definitely put a smile on my face.
I agree Bear ,looks like you guys had a great time!
Great pics too
Congrats guys! I can't believe how this one idea of a Gretsch Jam has spread so far so fast! I have a grand idea (vision) that in 10-20 years it will become more of a tradition and right of passage for new Gretschies on their long journey to Gretschdom. I am so sad that I couldn't make it to the last Roundup in TN last time, and I'm doing everything I can to make it to the next one in the PA/NJ area next month. Believe me, had I still been living in Germany like I was a year and a half ago, I'd have been to the European Gretsch Roundup!
Excellent pictures and great reporting all the way around...
Chris
Thanks guys,
And I'm glad we could put a smile on your face.
You are right, it is funny how the bug has been spreading. You would have been very welcome to join us but maybe next time. I almost made it to the big round up but I was in NY just a few weeks too early. I would have travelled there but it would have been without a guitar though.
You guys look like you had a great time. Proud of ya! You all look like a band!
These get togethers are so much fun. I am looking forward to next years where ever it may be.
If the Good Lord's willing and next year's is anywhere near Louisville/Nashville, I will do my best to make it just to meet some of you wonderful folks. I have met so many great people here at the GDP. It really is a bright spot in my life.
I'm so pissed off I couldn't get there. It looked like such fun. Booze, guitars, and... well that's it really - what more do you want? Can't wait for the soundclips.

Yeah, exactly, I was grinning from ear to ear as I read it - although being European I was a little sad that I wasn't there representing my side of the pond... Ah well. Hopefully I'll get my act together for the next roundup. Incidentally, whoever came up with the idea of the roundup should be given a nobel prize, or a 6120.
It's kind of like Fight Club for Gretsches
Really nice to hear about (and SEE) your get-together. Looks a like great event. I'm sitting here in the middle of the USA have no real idea of the geography, tranportation routes etc. over there. Can you tell us more about your journeys--How far the various members of the group had to travel? Did you have problems crossing borders with your instruments and gear? Hours on the road etc?
Thanks, Tom (TAG4)
Thanks again guys! The great thing was that at certain moments we were 5 guitars and a bass playing at the same time (and we were getting pretty boozed up) and not getting in each others way too much which surprised me. I dreaded that at first: 6 guitars all soloing at the same time....aaaahhhhh!
Yeah it is kinda like fightclub only we came out looking a bit better.
Tag4: well Holland is quite small so the four of us that live in Holland had basically no travelling to do compared to the US distances.
Ratrod basically only had to get up in the morning.
I travelled a little over an hour by car not counting the various trips to to airport and train station picking up Dr.Nyl and Sjolte.
Rocketman went by train to his meeting point with Will and they drove two and a half hours I guess.
Dr.Nyl came the furthest (from Sweden) but flew in. And he was lucky that he could take his Jet into the cabin. Wouldn't want to check in a gretsch while not in a flight case.
But the real hero was Sjolte who took a 15 hour train ride from Denmark to get here and then was delayed at the border another 2 hours and had to find another train.
Yeah I can't wait for the next one! If I can find the time I'll even travel to England and I will sometime in the future attend a US one.
I am still enjoying the memories of this fun event. I just voted up the guys I hadn't voted up yet, just because you all were great to be around.
Hope the next one comes soon.
Well done, gentlemen! It is terrific to see the photos of all of you and your Gretsches. (The photos of Holland also make me nostalgic, and long for another trip across the pond)
Some day, yes, there will be a significant international Roundup. And Liverpool would be a great spot for one. Nashville and New York also, given the Gretsch history them.
Let's do it in Japan!
-With factory tours, yes?
Japan is too dangerous for me. Too many cool and exotic guitars one can buy there.
The GAS attack would kill me!
Yeah that would be impossible to come away from the factory without buying a guitar
Oooh. That's a brutal idea.
I'm late to the party but just want to congratulate you all for the great story and superb pics! It actually brings tears to my eyes that this forum can generate such a desire to meet fellow members. Music is just barrier free!
When the UK has it's first get together I will do all I can to be there - even with my limited talent on guitar.
