Great, looking forward to the recordings!

How can my pics be better than yours? My guitars come out very nicely in your pics.

And you are right, Dr.Nyl was too modest. He has some great chops, I heard it every now and then when we all decided to shut up for a moment.

Ratrod was too modest too in the beginning, later on he showed us that he can really play, I'm just very sorry I can't find his CD anywhere. Want to hear it.

You all are very accomplished players and I really enjoy seeing other people play, I learn from every moment and get very inspired. I haven't been able to play much recently but I am going to 'force' myself some more to just make the time to play more. It was so much fun, have to do it more.

I know I can sing a little bit. I just don't do it that often and I find it hard to sing and play at the same time.

And I need to find the time to practice some of the killer licks I heard. The Stray Cat stuff and the Chuck Berry stuff in particular.

Will, did you find your way to Gorredijk?

Great seeing all these different shots from all different angles. BTW: The moved image works very well with Sjolte and Will being an extraordinary league of country gentlemen.

I just realized that we often really were playing with 6 guitars at a time and never really got in each others way too much like you would expect and we maybe dreaded in the beginning. That is pretty impressive too.
And thanks for the Pete Townsend bit: just made my day.

Yes the tiny cars: like Will says: practice! but in this case it was more pushing and shoving. Specially when you have to get back to Amsterdam with a carload of equipment, 5 guitars, two scandinavians and Rocketman!
But Will would really know: his car is really small.
edit: oops misread it. thought the question was how do we get all the stuff in those tiny cars. but it's simple: tiny country > tiny parking spaces > tiny cars. Huge country > wide open spaces > huge cars!

Much has already been said but again i must say that this was a truly GREAT event.

Everyone showed out to be great guys and the sence of "Gretsch comraderie" was obvious.

Everyone was eager to share their experiences with different guitars, pickups, amps, old & new bands played in and getting out of, musical interest & listening history and more, and more.......

We could actually have had 1 or 2 more days, which probably would have emptied the stock of Amstel at the Frisia Pub!

Some (personal) Highlights:

The Dutch hospitality

Danmans -59/60 6120 thru his -59 Bassman w. special speaker cab.

The 15 minute 5 guitar midnight Blues Jam.

Youngster Sjolte squeeling out JimiFuzztones at 2 a clock.

The Geetar drooling.

The only thing we missed was Rocketmans announced Fred Gretsch satellite speech, probably only stopped by athmospheric interferance

Hey Dr.Nyl,
Good to see your pix too. It was great having you here and I enjoyed your company. And you are right, that midnite jam was pretty good, especially with so many guitars and of course Sjolte doing Hendrix. And I liked your duo jet, great guitar, specially for a new one.

I had a feeling all beers went down fast. I remember thinking regularly: did I finish that already? ... again?

PS: one correction: my Bassman is 'only' 1962 (our year remember?) not 59. But 59 would have been great too.

Yeah a Gretsch meeting IS actually great. I know coz I been there. All these great players. And very warm people. I want to organise the next european roundup. In Breda. Very close to Belgium, France, Italy etc. Hint.

Too bad that Dr Nyl wasn't louder during the jam. It all sounded really cool when I came closer to his amp.

But mr Sjolte was the real surprise; not only did he travel 30 hours; he sings great and is a GREAT picker. One of the best I've ever seen.

Yeah Yeah, still suffering from the extensive Jetlag from the 1h 45m flight home, i got it kinda mixed/confused up with the stunning 6120.

And i have to say that many good things came out in -62.

@ Ratrod, yeah, Gorredijk was easy in spite of all reports. i visited 2 guys 'through' another forum (tape-deck/analog audio-freaks!) and enjoyed a beatiful demonstration how good vinyl records can sound. combined with the Roundup a splendid weekend.

... i only transported my 6122-59, Rocketmans Tenny, the Reverberocket, some recording stuff, my effectboard, a bag with personal stuff and Rocketman and myself.

that excatly what i was thinking as i was listening to the recordings. such a shame.

i just assembled the recordings. it more than 4 and a half hour! tommorow i try to edit the lot and upload some stuff. thanks all!

Even though it was a small group of people, I couldn't have wished for a better bunch of guys showing up for this Roundup.

Even now, a couple of days later, I still feel the buzz.

Those who couldn't make it really missed out on something special.
