Here you go, John...
Verse 1 You tell lies thinking I can't see
You can't cry 'cause you're laughing at me
Chorus I'm down (down baby, down)
I'm down (down on the ground)
I'm down (down baby, down)
How can you laugh when you know I'm down?
(How can you laugh) when you know I'm down
Verse 2 Man buys ring, woman throws it away
Same old thing happen every day
(repeat chorus)
Instrumental break (guitar)
Verse 3 We're all alone and there's nobody else
You still moan, "Keep your hands to yourself"
(repeat chorus)
Instrumental break (organ)
(repeat chorus several times with ad libs and associated frenzy)

haha, you had me worried there for a second John! lol I was rocking that song with me myself and I singing all of the parts and it sounded alright. I definitely sound better doing John stuff. It's hard for me to get the sawdust in my vocals like Paul did. I can do a different version, but that Paul/Little Richard voice he has going on is simply happening, it's the GEAR!

We will rock it in E.
I suggest you watch Backbeat.

NO!!! I prefer G!!! Ok, if we HAVE to! Let me know, seriously. I am a creature of habit and changing keys is a hard thing for me to get used to. I think this song would be easy though to transpose...

Hey, John,
I have a proclivity for the arcane & obscure when it comes to material selection; I'm so accustomed to people not knowing the songs I bring up that I just supply lyrics/chords/recordings, and I don't differentiate or question it!
I've tried very hard to curb that tendency for the Jersey Jam... or at least steer it in a productive direction.
In E, it's just E, A, and B. Nothing fancy, and we'll even let you make mistakes.
Edit to add: ... and the guitar solo gets very easy in E.

I'm good for either key.
Obscure is cool if it's good, ya know?
I gotta tell ya Paul, I could not find Hoy Hoy by Perkins, but I did find Hoy Hoy Hoy by Wayne Hancock. Is that the same song? If so, it's an easy enough progression to follow.
I'd see a doctor about your proclivities. He can fix that.

I've been practicing the solo in G, so to put it in E really throws me off. If we do it in E, I'll have to take a moment to collect my thoughts and doodle around to find the new way of playing it. The reason is I play solo's based on the song, not by transposable keys. I play the first two notes of the solo on the low G fret and then move to the A string on the 1st fret. With E it throws it all off.

Hey, John,
"Hoy, Hoy" was Collins Kids, not Carl Perkins.
Except we'll be in D.

Everybody bring cameras, film, batteries, kids, wives, girlfriends (not both at once!), etc...
There's a coffee shop right up the block for those in need of hot caffeine.
There's a hoagie shop right across the street for those who don't like the food there. I won't be insulted.
There's a pizza/cheesesteak shop on the next block up that's pretty good as well.
Rest up, if you can.
See you tomorrow!

Paul, That looks so cool! That explains why I couldn't find Perkins doing it. Now I really hope Billy D Light shows up, because he's got one of those double neck jobs like Larry Collins complete with his name in the fretboard!
Did you buddy Cat ever decide if he's coming up or not?

We're taking off here between 9 and 9:30 so we should be showing up between 1130-12:00. Tim's driving since we're bringing his drums and he drives like everybodys Grandma here on the board. I might be a grumpy old man by the time we get there!
Let's do it!

That was awesome! A big thanks to everyone who came out and to John and his wife as well. Too all those that traveled the earth to get to the event too and a BIG thanks to Proteus and Gas Money for having a giveaway! Congratulations to all of the winners as well! There must have been at least $300,000 worth of gear there tonight. OJ should have held us up and stolen OUR gear instead of the crappy memorabilia he tried to get away with! lol
Curt, can you email me the pics you have in full resolution please? Also, I hope you recorded the song "In my life" that Frequent Flyer and I did together, that was a lot of fun. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the rest too!
Gas Money is an awesome guitar player and Billy D Light was in the house tonight playing MY guitar!!! He's like a hero to me and it was cool to hear him tear it up with my gear... Billy's son was rockin' the house on the drums too, it was a way cool night all around... Another big thanks to my drummer Scott!
John, I left my tripod at the auction house. Can you pick it up for me and I'll get it next time I see you? It's in one of the photo's above. Thanks!
Curt, you can send the pics to MY (NAME)@thewenzels.com Thanks!
Anyone know what kind of amp Fred (Gas Money) was playing today? Model and vintage?

UNCLAIMED FREIGHT:
Anyone missing the following?
An orange & Black triple outlet extension cord.
A can of Fast Fret. What is this stuff?
(1) 12 foot long guitar cable. Gold ends with little orange tags at the base of each end. This also may belong to the Auction House, but Roland didn't think it looked familiar, so he sent it home with me.
If you guys wanted to leave me a gift, you should have got me a card so I knew who to thank!
