Thanks Jukebox for the tips. I'll try them tonight when I get home.
I like the new name you gave me too Ha-Ha.

Watch it, that typo might catch on!
Sorry!
It's looking like I'm not going to make it- I'm going to have to drive the kid back to Harrisburg that Sunday.
:^(
What time would that have to be? I'm coming from HBG. I'm about 11 miles out in Middletown.
I hang out at the open mic at the auction House and John invited me to stop by. I think I can make it and would love to hang out.
thanks Al
Cool!
I'll add alpep to the roster...and hey look - now he's a bonafide GDP Member!
Here's a question put to me last night by the sound man at the Auction House:
What kind of mix are we going for?
Do we need bass and drums in through the board, along with guitars, or just vocals?
Thoughts?
The mix?
It depends on if we're going to have an audience and how big the joint is... and whether we're going to record the proceedings.
Considering that there may be nearly 500 guitarists playing at once on certain songs, it probably makes sense to juice up the bass and drums so that the guitarists can hear the foundation.
It's likely to be rather hodge-podgey with all the guitarists and the variations in amps, people sitting out, joining in, etc.; could be difficult for a sound man to nail an optimal mix and hold the line for any length of time.

Can someone please email me the exact address of where we are meeting and when, what day, times etc...?
Thanks!!!
Chris
Hey Paul I'm going to record it and Chris, John posted pictures and the address. I think we're starting at noon.
Which page? I couldn't find them, I must be too over-worked from school... ughhhh.... Calgon, take me away! Or as my friends mom used to say, "Culligan man, take me away..."
Soundman?
What kind of a mix are we going for?
Will the CD be offered for sale ?
Drums in through the board ?
I guess I'll bring my earplugs...
I won't even talk about the debate ....
So, let me just make sure. It's at the auction house on Sunday the 12th at 12 noon???
Anyone done a head count yet? I'm curious as to how many people will be there? 57 Chet, you are still coming right? I'm coming for sure...
Chris - I'll be there ... I look forward to meeting you in person ...
I now have the time, and am inspired, to practice for the event ...
Weez ... Weez ... Wink ... Wink ...
lol! Cool, I can't wait to meet you too and everyone else that I've been online friends with for so long...
The auction house has a pretty nice PA setup. they have EV subs mids and horns in reflex cabs, an allen and heath 24 channel board and some effects. I am not sure how it is powered. there are at least 2 monitors but there always seems to be a problem with getting all the mics in the monitor mix....at least at the open mics.
If you want to record I am sure you can put something direct on the aux outs of the board and it will pickup all the stage stuff without much problem or maybe a pair of km 184 neumans in a cross pattern in the back or middle of the room to grab live sound.
I guess it all depends on what you want to do with the recording.
I know I'm going to be too busy to run a board, so I'd like to get a decent vocal and monitor mix and roll with it.
My 10 year old, micro-Speilberg, will be taking photos and filming I'm sure.
There will be other folks there, such as GDP member's family, friends and such, but should we get a sound man for them or just go with stage volume?
Chris, It looks like 15 certain with the possibility for 25, but I have not heard from all who originally expressed interest.
JimmyD, a former GDPer just wrote to let me know he'll be attending as well. He's got a slew of nice Gretsches, so who knows what'll show up?
The other songs I suggested:
Hoy, Hoy
Verses: D D-D-D-C-D (2 times)
A G D-D-D-C-D
Chorus and instrumental breaks:
D (for a long time) G D A D D G D A D
Feel free to make these chords 6s, 9s, etc. for proper rockabilly flavor. The progressions with the hyphens go by pretty fast.
Put Your Cat Clothes On A D E (it's that simple)
Drink Tickets Verse: A G (repeat as necessary) Chorus: C G D A
I think I got these basically right. I know I got close, at least.
Paul/FF909
D (for a long time)Hey Paul thanks for the detail!
AND hey John, anything I can bring?
Curt: hey John, anything I can bring? Just your Bad self.
I do not have a bass amp. I have a bass, but no amp or direct box. If someone might be so kind as to bring one with them, that'd be swell.
I encourage everyone to bring cameras, vids, and recording devices as the last time we realized they were regretfully not plentiful.
Oh, and as I mentioned before, I'll be making some food and provide soft drinks. Anything harder, it's Bring Your Own.
Last night I realized this is just a week away and I've already started losing sleep, which is what I do when I'm excited about something.
Don't worry for me though, I'll catch up on sleep at work(Yeah, right!)
Now, a question to all of you:
What can I get for you that you might need?
Let me know soon...it's only 6 days away!
"What can I get for you that you might need?"
A date and a defibrillator ...
I don't know about a date, but maybe a prune?
Ha, Ha !
I obviously get it and can't wait to meet you crowbone ...
I have a solid state Crate bass amp I can bring (with).
