Still up in the air-if the kid comes home from collich, I have to drive him back. No way my wife would come see me bang out bar chords, so I asked my buddy to come along. He plays a little bass. Maybe I could convince him to play a few root notes.

By the way, have we gotten a dedicated basser yet?
Paul - Well, Roadjunkie is coming and he did win a sweet Gretsch Bass....Gary?
Seriously though, I stand in and play 'bout anything I can make noise on if you can stand it til the real musicians get there.
Fred - Big X fan here, cool. How about the Knitter's "Wreckin Ball"? Easy to learn, fun to play. My 14 year old will be there too, but he's into the metal now...I'm hoping I can bribe him into putting down the Randy Rhoads V for a sec, and doing his bad ass Luther Perkins impression.
I'll work on getting the song changes posted this weekend.
The following songs were cut and pasted so if some thing is wrong, let me know by PM and I'll make the changes.

crowbone - Ha! that is my favorite Hank tune ... I especially like Keb Mo's version ...
It now looks like the stage is going to be pretty crowded ...
I'll try to narrow down my list and post some changes as well ...
IMO - I think we will have to break up the sets into who is familiar with whatever songs are being played ...
Fred/GasMoney - I recognize you as an old GDP - vintage aficionado ... But have not heard your music until visiting your site just now ... Nice stuff! Needless to say, I would just be in the way, playing with you and your band ... I can't wait to hear you though ...
I'll need to re-think what guitar/guitars to bring ...
Later ...

Chet - Bring 'em all!
Never count on a crowd showing up on Sunday...football day...during game time.
This place is huge for the folks we have coming.
I've been playing the open mics there and they get a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday 30 - 70 people and there's plenty of room.

"Chet - Bring 'em all!"
Thanks crowbone!
I don't have a vehicle big enough to bring them all ...
My 6120, of course, is the most versatile one to bring but, lots of folks will be bringing those ... I'm thinking the 6121 and an acoustic of some sort ...
We'll see ...

I still got that one locked away in me head somewhere.

Anyone like the song "I'm Down"? You know, the Beatles song. I'm thinking of as many blues progression rock and roll songs as I can. Another good one is "Bad Boy" by the Beatles. You know, "A bad little kid moved in to my neighborhood". Those songs are always fun to rock out with a jam session type of setting and anyone can follow along.

Hey, Chris,
I'm good with both "I'm Down" and "Bad Boy" -- used to do the latter song in my band years ago, always wanted to do the former, too.
I'm also good with "Dig a Pony" -- Curt, do you have the lead lines down for that 'un?

Anyone know or want to play the song by Lit "My own worst enemy"? I know the lead, bass, and rhythm to show anyone that wants to play it. It's a little more modern, easy and rocks. It's fun to play, but we don't have to play it. I'm just throwing it out there as a newer song. My band used to play stuff like this in Japan and Germany and they were always fun. Here's the video in case anyone's interested. It's E, B, A for the most part. The change is E, F#m, A, B. That's it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDJFWbWSXFE

Thanks Chet! I have had enough practice in bars and clubs and think I do a good iteration of it! Also, I know the solo and song to Dig a Pony. I'll have to read up on the lyrics since it's been since 1997 since I've played that song. I used to play bass back then, but I was teaching my ex-wife how to play the guitar parts, so I know them too.
My own worst enemy is fun. I'd throw out "Buddy Holly" by weezer, but there are too many chords for the normal Joe to follow. I'm sure I could teach some of you the parts, but it probably wouldn't sound that great. 57, let me know if you think this song is do-able??? Since my band was on a tribute CD to weezer they are always in my setlist.

I'm just throwing ideas out there to try and keep it from becoming a 12 bar festival, which isn't bad, but I think some of us will want to play other stuff...?

Hey, Curt,
I can run with all of those songs... ran through Cinnamon Girl the other day while tuning all six strings to D, it seemed.
I'm having trouble with the solo, though.
We've proven we can hack up Secret Agent Man with the best of the butchers, and it's no crime to go with what ya know, ya know.
Which brings to mind Slow Down and Down By the River, if those can generate constituencies yet again.
I had to work this weekend, so I didn't get to post chords and stuff for all my song suggestions as I wanted to. But here are some of them:
Honey Don't
Verses: E C E C B7
Chorus: E A E B E
Your True Love
Verses: E A B E
Bridges: Ab Db Gb B+Slow Down Heck, it's just a I IV V in C, so it's a whole lotta C F G, with some breaks leading to the choruses.
Secret Agent Man
Verses: Em Am Em Em B7 Em Am Em Am Em
Chorus: Bm Em Bm Em C7 B7
More to come...
As far as bassing goes, I may have a new toy to bring to show and tell...

(C) Here the (Cmaj7)lonesome (Am)whiper(G)will(C)He sounds (Cmaj7)too (Am)blue to (G)fly
(F)The midnight train is (C)whineing (Am)low
(C)I'm so lonesome (G)I could (C)cry(G)
I know this is in C,but now convert it to E if you want. This is just a prettier way to play it.

I haven't played in a cover band for over a decade ...
Needless to say my repertoire is shot!
I went to a couple of internet sites to get some quick chord reminders of songs that I used to play and found that 75% of the chords, tabs and keys were totally wrong ...
At least I was able to copy and paste most of the lyrics ..
I'll edit and post some of my suggestions soon ...
