do any of you gents in the philly area fancy the dead milkmen? I'm a huge fan...
Buddy,
They were my buddies when I had a band in the 80s. In fact, I just saw Rodney while I was walking home from work about a month or so ago.
He's a financial analyst now, making bocoup bucks.
Remind me to tell you some stories.
Wow, I'm literally 5 minutes from the Auction House... I just got a 5120 a few months ago and it would be great to see and hear a roomful of Gretsches in action. Of course, as luck would have it, I'll be out of town that week. But hopefully I can make the next one. Have a blast!
crowbone...check out what's goin on at johnny brenda's on october 25th...thinkin of going?
Hey there Buddy...great place to play. Congrats! I'd like to see you. Sounds good from what I've seen on youtube.
Now, you in or out?

IN!
I'm glad to hear it Chris!
Chris - Glad it's definite!
Buddy - I didn't see anything about the Milkmen playing that gig, just Mercury Radio theater. Glad you're coming out.

Songs... we need more songs.
We've got some guys coming who know their way around rockabilly a little bit. I humbly suggest we do a Carl Perkins song or two (perhaps choosing from among "Put Your Cat Clothes On," "Your True Love," or "Honey Don't") and the Collins Kids' "Hoy Hoy"(in D, where I can sing it!).
I'd like to do "Drink Tickets" with Fred. I think it's a way-cool song, and it would be even more way-cool to play a GDPer's original song. I'm sure it wouldn't sound exactly like the record, but after all, we've got the record to sound like the record.
I'm going to bring a Beatles songbook or two.

depends on whether my wife lets me
I'm still in trouble from the last time I went out on a Sunday
Good idea Paul...
Curt suggested this in Nashville, but I was too modest. Go figure.
If we're doing Fred's songs, I'd like to add "All Alone In My Honky Tonk World".
I got loads of originals, as I'm sure you all do too.
Here's some more suggestions:
Of course, we can do the Who's version too.
I'd like to try " Don't Bother Me". It's a Beatles song. Perhaps you've heard of them?
Maybe a bit of Hank Sr. as well?
"She's My Baby" by the Wilburys could be fun as well.
Maybe a bit of Wayne "The Train" Hancock That's What Daddy wants? And hey...I think I spot a Gretsch somewhere in that vid.
Billy D Light & me are big Smithereens fans. Any one else?
And finally, in honor of Wanda Jackson getting nominated to R&RHOF, Let's Have a Party!
Great song suggestions, good looking venue and some fine players who happen to be some of the nicest guys I know. I'd love to be there.
I never got to see Gas Money, but I sure like the music. Fred, you and the rest of Gas Money are writ large in my book.
Wish I was back in old home for this one.
Hey Billy,
Bring Her & Little Billy out with ya.
Doug,
You and Dylan will be missed for sure.
I'll TRY to play anything but please provide the changes!
It would be fun to play some originals so lets do it.
Wow I am flatterd y'all want to play some Gas Money tunes!
"Drink tickets" is pretty easy so we'll try that one "all alone in my honky tonk world" is a simple too but the drums are a little more involved. Maybe wally can wing it. If I can get Jim Callan (pedal steel) to come then we'll have a real honky hardwood floor afternoon.
I'll have loads of Rockabilly songs in my arsenal and some X, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young and Whiskeytown too if any one wants.
I do Chets version of Mr Sandman as well.
I'll be bringing my neighbors son who is 14--I have been teaching him rockabilly and alt country all summer. He is obssessed with Gretsches so this should be a great time for him as well. He'll be helping to bring in some gear !!
Fred
Hey, John,
Darnedest thing: I was running over "Don't Bother Me" earlier this week. Outta nowhere it came; must be something in the air.
"Shakin' All Over" -- now there's a rocker in the best of traditions. Gotta have that one on the list!
Curt,
I'll post the changes to the songs I'm suggesting this weekend, and I recommend that everyone else do the same for theirs.
It's going to be too much like work for all the participants to grok the chords and etc. off YouTube clips from as many songs as are likely to be requested. Let's make it easy on our brethren and sistren (if any such show up!).
By the way, have we gotten a dedicated basser yet?
