I visited once on business. The food was really good, especially Italian. The women were beyond gorgeous. You totally have to watch your back though, especially at night. The really rich people don't even risk armored cars any more, just helicopters.

One of the people I live with is from Sao Paulo, I'll see what he has to say. From what I gather, watching your back is no joke. Apparently he always walks with a hand in his shirt/pocket/whatever because people who see you will assume you have a gun... I don't know if that's really scary or if that's a really clever, awesome move. The action hero wanna be in me is leaning towards the latter but....
Anyhow, I think he's one of the very rich ones though so he'll be fine.

SP could be hell or could be a really nice place if you know where to stay (or avoid) and depending on money. Violence is an issue. Traffic is a big, big issue. Live near work is a must. People are friendly but don't expect a lot of English speakers. Really good food (paying for it), wild night life (if you're into it) - "the night" begins really late... My last show down there started at 1:30am with the place packed. Really (really) overpriced instruments but with a few really good custom shops for guitars and amps. Sao Paulo is huge... Life can be different depending on neighborhood.

Thanks fellas. I'm waiting on the details right now. It looks like end of September but could be October. I'm taking a crash course in Portuguese and so far not too bad... I speak spanish so some of the words I already get. I'll let you know Regis when its definate.
I've heard of Zaganin Guitars from another site (someone ordered one of their custom Tele's). They look great and there's no prices listed so I'm guessing that kind quality comes at a price. I'll be there a while so I guess I'll have to save up.
I'll be working in Itaim Bibi near Av Brig Faria Lima and Av Horacio Lafer. Hope to get a place 15-30 min away but man apartments are expensive. Thanks for the tips on avoiding violence and staying safe.
Thanks for sharing your My Space page Joao... As an old surfer from Socal I grew up on the Ventures, Surfaris, ect. I like the Latin twist. Reminds me of how the late great Tito Puente added his Latin twist to Jazz.... very cool.
