I'm always impressed with people that can figure out the complexities of pedal boards and when to use what. I have all I can do not to trip over the cord.

thanks for all of the nice words, guys. but I've been having a good time, too. it's a shame that we don't live closer. next year I plan on bringing the "old annie". and Troy, it looks like I just may have to brush up on some "rockabilly" licks to keep up with you. it's been a good time y'all. oh, also on this trip down, I met with Doug Fieldhouse in Bentonville, Arkansas. a real nice guy. we met for coffee and chatted for a couple of hours. so, has the plans for next year started yet ? ha ha ;o))

To illustrate how far things have come since the old days, here's a picture of John Lee Hooker's pedalboard:

It's a Wobo Line Buffer/Booster ($79.00), made in Krakow, Poland. The Boss Tremolo pedal has it's own loop on the pedalboard. But when you activate the Tremolo pedal, the volume level drops a noticeable notch (this problem has been addressed by Keeley and other after-market pedal mod guys). So I got the Wobo booster to compensate for the volume loss. When I activate the Tremolo loop (by stepping on the button labeled "Trem" in the long strip at the bottom), there is no signal loss, as the booster kicks in along with the tremolo pedal. -

Nice on Phantom!
Thanks for the info Troy. How's that Maxon Analog Delay?? I've been in the market for a delay that sounds a bit more like a tape echo. The H2O does a great job, especially if I dial a little warble in for the chorus side, which sounds good, but it'd be nice to have another delay on board so I could switch between them.

It's a great pedal. They don't make that model anymore, and I don't know why. It's simple enough to set, and sounds authentic enough. I have that pedal in it's own loop for slapback, and I have the Boss RV-3 (digital delay) for longer delays. I actually go through phases with the Maxon, and alternate it's place on my pedalboard with a purple Danelectro delay. I just like to switch it up every now and then. If you want to buy the Maxon AD-80 one day, let me know. I may decide to sell it, depending on what day it is, and the humidity level outside... I don't get really attached to pedals. I DO really like my Maxon AD-808 overdrive, though. That's got a permanent spot.

well, y'all, I'm back up in Minnesota. every year, it's getting harder and harder to leave my native Louisiana. I keep hoping that my wife's folks will move further south and we'll get closer to "Dear Ole Luzianne".
I've met quite a few of y'all on this trip. I met Doug Fieldhouse in Bentonville, Arkansas. at the "Louisiana Gretsch Gathering", I met our host Don Wood and his wife Anita and Don, Jr., Otterbean(Curtis Bias) and his wife and two kids, Mark St. John and Troy6120 - one "hot guitar picker". in Baton Rouge, my home town, I met sroux(Shawn Roux). it was a good time all around guys. and next time I won't mess up the pictures. I plan on bringing my old '59 Annie. ha ha maybe next time, we can get some more Louisiana folks to show up. right, Bax ?

Ya know, Brent kind of sticks out in those photos because of his LP. But, it would be great if someone would identify each GDP'er in one of the photos that contains everyone just so that we can match up some faces with nicknames.
Or, is it there and I just have overlooked it somewhere??

Yeah Brent....if you're going to bring something shaped like a Les Paul, at least have the decency to make it a Duo Jet!
Seriously though, great to finally meet ya buddy! Can't wait to meet everyone else at the next gathering!

bwallace1, thanks for the compliment. However, I think everyone laid down some hot, smoking licks that day. Everyone sounded great!

Hey, Curtis! I finally am getting ahold of the Photobucket thing, thanks to you. Computers aren't my forte. Also, I think I'm just going to buy a Squier neck for that bass. I hooked it up, and it sounds really good. It's definitely worth fixing. Thanks again!

I loved the sound of that acoustic, whoever's it was. I take it that it was a model from quite a few years back? It had a good full range, but not overly boomy like some acoustics. Seemed like a perfect front porch strummer.
And I'm still fascinated by the tone of Troy's Country Gentleman.

That little jewel is mine St.John. Gretsch G3100. I had just done a little work on it and didn't really like the result as much as the original configuration. They can ve had for a low price and are a real bargain. When they come stock, the action is really low and they feel like electric guitars. I have been shimming the bridge to see how it affects tone and playability. Looks like I'll be swapping back to the original set up soon.
By the way, Curt Mangan strings sound great with this guitar. At the gathering I had Martin Marquis on there. It just didn't sound quite right to my ear.
I would like to see Gretsch bring this guitar back to the line-up. Might even be nice to see what one with an arched top would be like. Hmmm..I think I sense a guitar building experiment coming along.
