Thanks Otterbean. The vibrolux is a great amp; it's not the lightest, but it is manageable. The hardest part was navigating it thru all the great guitars we had to avoid knocking something over. It didn't help that I added about 10 to 15 lbs with a speaker change too.

Aww man....now I'm doubly sorry that I had to miss the gathering...
Besides the obvious great time ya'll had, look at those guitars!!
I'd have been like a kid in a candy store. That Billy Bo and Country Club are calling my name! Even that funny looking "Duo Jet" that Brent is playing.
Next time hopefully I won't be commited and can attend.

How do you post pics on here now??? St. John, check this out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250264522831&s... Also, I made a room-recording of all of us playing. It may take a little while, but I'll get some sound clips up on the RADIO section of this site. It was a great day. I can't wait to do it again.

Thanks for posting the pics. I visited with Brent in Minneapolis last week. He was excited but lamented the fact that there was no room in the car for the Gretsch. I think he should have left his wife's suitcase at home and brought the Gretsch.

Troy- Looks like you have to use an image hosting website now. I use Webshots. Others like photobucket or imageshack or whatever. Upload your pics there first. You can open a new explorer window on your desktop using the explorer icon or ctrl n keystrokes. Go to your image hosting site and copy the code that allows you to post the pic in a forum. Use the camera icon when you post here and paste the code in the box. That should get the pic up on the GDP. (for this shot I just linked to a thumbnail photo of Don giving you death by guitar)
You can also link to that page if you like. Its actually easier to do than posting a pic in my opinion.
I really liked being able to upload photos directly from my PC to this site before the recent changes. I hope Bax can bring that feature back.
If that doesn't work, you can e-mail the pics to me and I can post them for you.
(I need one of those little Boss recorders like the one you were packing around)

I'll just email the pics to you, and I'll get around to messing with the image hosting sites soon. Thanks. It was very nice to be able to simply post a pic. But if that was part of what was slowing the site down, I'll do without it. And yeah, the Micro BR recorder is great technology for guitarists.

See what happens if you pick guitar TOO good around me. Hope your neck gets well Troy. Mrs Wood says thanks for all the nice compliments and may I add it was a great time. Sorry I kept calling you Shawn Mark. Next time i'll cut back on the pills. Just got through talking to the builder about the music/pool hall I will have built. Next time we'll have more room and less work to do. Really, my family and I had a great time and like Brent said in an earlier post every-one brung a different style of playin' to throw in the mix, jus' like a pot of gumbo. Man that jelly was seasoned !! Many thanks to Mrs Otterbean for her contributions and especially for her UPLIFTING photography work. Hope I said that right. Every-one kicked in something making for a good meet-and-greet. Thanks to all you guy's. Don

Troy, I tried to respond to your email earlier. That Gent is not as pretty as yours....looks a little dark around the edges, and those limited run prices scare me! Fine guitar though, real tight and focused.
Don, no problem at all! Glad you liked the pepper jelly!

Man, looks like a great day for Gretschs in Loozyana. I wish I could be everywhere at once - nothin' quite satisfies like Cajun cookin', either culinary or musical.
Some impressively unursial Gretschems there for a smallish group of scruffy fellers: the GA, the 6120DC, and do I see a deep-bodied Gent and a sunburst 6122-59? Not to mention yon Billy Bo.
And you say there were no fights, gator-thrashin's, or poe-lease calls?
That'ere's a good day!
Oh - not a deep Gent, it's a Country Club. Had to look more carefully at the pics. Otterbean otterbean able to put it DOWN for a minute with the rest of the group for easier pickin'out in the lineup.
Is there a pic of the overkill pedalboard? I'm hoping someone on the GDP has a more disgustingly excessive board than I do, because I always feel like an overcompensating poseur when I drag it out and have to start apologizing and explaining how most of the pedals don't count, either because they're not really effects or I rarely use them...
Who was the serial pedal offender in La?

Hey Proteus... Unfortunately I was unable to attend...but I think I might have been a contender for pedalboard overkill...
Here's the most recent lineup..

Actually, the pedalboard offender was me, with st. john running second. I know what you mean. I always feel like a gimp when I pull the board out of the case. Proteus, as for your inquiry about the level of violence present, see this link......... http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2694193330051588425GLlrIL?vhost=good-times
I posted this on the other Gretsch site: It was really a good day. No need for corporate sponsorship, bigwigs, door prizes, whatever. No rented buildings, just donwood's living room. There was much great food to be had, so props go to Don's wife, Anita, as well as all who contributed. I had the privelige to sit within a ten foot proximity of st. john, otterbean, bwallace1, and donwood, and witness their guitar prowess firsthand. All of us there only because we love the music and the guitars. To have Brent there was a real honor, as he lives so far away and happened to be near the area while on vacation. Just good timing, and good luck. I left with a great feeling, (a buzz from a powerful Jack-and-Coke), and a great memory. As for the throat laceration that Don inflicted on me for ogling his SSLVO...........well, it was worth it. I also got to play a Country Club and a Golden Anniversary, which I had never had the opportunity to do. Now I got problems! Great sounding, great-playing guitars. Great guys that own them, also. Just a good freakin' day all around. I can't wait to do it again. There was no animosity or apprehension among anyone. Everyone was there for the same reason, and I felt an instant kinship with all these guys. Kind of like you've known someone for a long time, even though you'd never formally met. Once again, a great day. Thanks to all of you. We'll meet again.

No doubt about it-- Brent is a class A-1 guy. When I was working on temporary assignment in Minneapolis, he showed me around and made me feel right at home. Running neck-and-neck with Brent in the "great guy" department is his fellow Minnesotean, Jukebox. Must be something in the water up there..

Sroux- Ya' ain't even close to the stompophonic-pedalboard-of-doom that Troy totes around. Oddly enough, he is just getting a slight coloration with his effects set up. ( I plugged into his board and played for a minute just to see what all of those fancy whang doodles did. I sounded about the same.)
Anyone take a pic of his pedal board? I know there is one on the GDP somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Well- I found the thread, but Troy's photo of his pedal board is missing in action. Take a pic of that thang Troy. (It's easily 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 feet of completely covered pedal board real estate.) I haven't seen one like it before.

Hey gang...just got back from lunch with Brent! Had a good ole time. Had a couple of roast beef po-boys, and jetted on over to the Perfect Guitar to paw over some Gretsches!!
Now, I'm sitting here thinking about a White Falcon that they had. If it had Dyna's in it, it probably would have gone home with me..
Brent's a great guy. It was great hearing stories about Baton Rouge and the surrounding area from "back in the day". Turns out we know a few of the same people. Really fun hanging out with ya Brent! You're definately welcome whenever you find yourself down our way.

sroux's is much tidier, and probably has just as much on it. I like how it looks like he's "scrounging" for just that "one more pedal" with the Hellbaby cocked off to the side under the H20 Chorus and Echo pedal. I have to vote him up one for that. And as he used to say at the end of his posts... Cheers!

Hey Otter....yeah I remember seeing Troy's pedalboard in a post before. I've trimmed mine down a bit in the last year. Currently I only use a couple of the overdrives and the echo, but I like having a lot of tones at my beck and call.

HAHA....you like that Troy??
The Copperhead boost had booted the HB off of my board for a while, but I missed it, so it's back. I'll probably get a smaller echo at some point, and the HB will take the place of the H2O. Really the Tim, Copperhead and H2O form the core of my sound these days, the rest are great to have for different textures, but with those, I can survive.
Cheers!
