Well, congratulations to you all on a clearly fabulous get-together.
Adds a rewarding new dimension to the proceedings here, to know your fellow GDPers as real-life people, doesn't it?*

Hope Joe can get the technical issues solved --- from where I sat, the performance sounded pretty damn good, and if the video captures it, I think even folks who weren't there in person will be impressed. (After all, by then we'd known each other for nearly 24 hours --- and we even praticed the song once!)
Forgive your syntax we will!
One thing is for certain,in comparison to Nashville the faces may have changed but the grin on the face of you guys is all to familar! That was a highlight in my life and I hope all of you who did NORCAL feel the same!
Parabar that was great of you to host this and it seems you have a great place! I hope you got that much more out of the day!
Au contraire --- it was pure selfishness on my part. I wanted to see a NorCal Roundup happen (so I could go), and hosting it was not only the quickest way to make it happen, but I didn't even have to leave home --- or schlep my equipment --- to get there! What a deal!
There's nothing more enjoyable to me than creating music with other folks with the intention of creating positive energy, and the weekend had plenty of that, plus the chance to share stories and experiences, try out some Gretsch guitars that I've never had the chance to play in person before, and meet some very fine people. Hope to cross paths with you all again soon!

Parabar emailed me the link to this discussion today, and I joined the group in 1 minute flat. As previously stated it was a real fine time meeting all the Gretsch players and learning about the brand. I now have a Tom Nix strap, so now I have to find a Gretsch to put it on. Problem is , there are so many beautiful choices, it's hard to pick my first one. I'm sure the "force" will steer me in the right direction. Looking forward to seeing and jamming we ya'll again real soon :)
You sure looked comfortable playing that Pro Jet. Ya made her sing nice too ...
Hey Sturge-man! Glad to see you on here. I really enjoyed getting to know you a bit at the Roundup. You were a great asset there as a guy that could play all positions in the infield, so to speak.
The problem with selecting a Gretsch is that there are far too many beautiful guitars to choose from! I'm sure that you will find one that suits your personality. Or, like afm_380 says, that Pro Jet almost matched the color of your hair...maybe that is a sign! LOL
BTW: Nice Ricky in that avatar of yours!
Hey fellows, I just bought a gold Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet very much like the one that was at the RoundUp and that Sturge won, except mine has a G-Tailpiece instead of a Bigsby.
,,, Thanks to the Roundup!!!! :)
I bought it at B. Street Music in San Mateo this afternoon, where I teach!
I've been eyeing it for awhile there but then after hearing everyone playing the one at The Roundup out this weekend, I liked it, Really Liked It!!!
It really has That Great Gretsch Sound and alot of character!
Best I can describe it that it is maybe a cross between a 6119 Tennessean, DuoJet, Tele, Paul ,,, with a nice spank, smoothness, crunchy sound and very very versatile for many styles :)
Even the Rhythm pickup sounds great for Jazz stuff!
I got a good deal too being that I'm affiliated with the store.
All my students liked it too!
Looks cool too!
Just wanted to share!
Very, very cool, DrGretsch. The one really great thing about that guitar that you failed to mention is its very great price! Very affordable.
I second that and since I teach at the store, and do related work, they let me have for a really good price :)
Also, just like you said to Sturge, There are so many fine Gretsches to choose from.
Darn, All are Good :)
At B. Street Music they had 12 New mid-range Gretsches up on the rack and all different models.
The Sunburst Double Anniversary re-issue with the Hilotrons sounded great, the Double Corvette with the Filterons sounded great and strong, The minty Green 6118 Double Anniversary was the prettiest up there and sounded great too and also probably a good candidate for TV Jones Classics, The Two Electromatic 5120's (One Orange andother Black), a few more Electromatics with DeArmands and another black Electromatic Pro and a few other mid rangers, MMmmm!
Great Bang for the buck!
I played a black Pro Jet today, down at Guitar Showcase. I probably wouldn't have given it a second though, had I not experienced it at the roundup. What a fine guitar. I'm torn about whether to go with the Pro Jet or save and get a regular Jet. I just dunno, but I'm leaning towards the Pro Jet.
And damn Sturge, did you make that thing sing or what? That rave up of Mona was THE SHIT!!!!!
Also, On the way home, I stopped at "Bananas at Large" in San Rafael, Calif. ,,, and in addition to running into an old musician friend I haven't seen since 1970 (Great Player), they had a whole bunch of new Gretsches in there too.
My friend Keith Murphy, who is a manager too, let me try out a whole bunch of them while we were chatting,, and I even got one up on a video on Youtube now.

I know, I really like the ProJets now!!!
Good idea to pick up a few since they are so relatively inexpensive and try different pickups configurations!
Also, I bought this Jay Turser Doubleneck recently and put in TV Jones Filtertrons and it amazingly sounds just like a DuoJet or Billy Bo for that matter.
That mod, along with the 12 string half is absolutely amazing and practical!
Two guitars in one.
The JayTurser twelve string sounds so good and strong that I not need attempt to put in Ric Toasters - (Yet?) ...
ProJets are going to go down in History as a Hot Item!
sounds like what you've got there is a bargain doubleneck Corvette.
Always a pleasure to watch Dr. G operate. Thanks for sharing the videos!
Thanks DrG. It's good to see your face again. Nice playing too. Yeah, I have to talk to the entertainment director at the casino and see if we can get you booked in.
What a Shot! :)
too cool ...
Gretsch's are like Lay's Potato Chips ... It's impossible to stop with just ONE
Did I hear somebody say, "Apparently I need one"? - Lol!
Another!!!?
