So it is 2009 and as it was mentioned in a couple of other threads I think it might be time to start talking about it. Last years venue was perfect for the number of people and maybe a few more, any thoughts? And dates?

I have some thoughts. I have to go. I had hotel and flight reservations last year and had to skip it at the last minute. I think I have to be there this time. Seeing the posts and photos was like appearing to be dead and watching everyone around you look into your casket and talk about other stuff.

The last I heard the southeast committee aka (Pappy Steve and Doug) were talking of moving the date back to late summer early fall because it was so dang hot! And it was but I thought that was part part of the charm. Mandatory beer runs and all!

The committee will be convening at least virtually soon, and you can expect announcements soon. Preliminary notions are indeed that we return to the same venue.

I'll have to say that I will for sure be at the next Nashville RoundUp. Hopefully with some of my own Gretsch's a few of the amps we're building...

Joel you'll never regret it! It was a highlight of 08 for me. That and the fact that Phila's place is Eden! Forget the fact that it's tick infested and the fact that they try to say Eden was in the middle east. If there's such a thing as God's country that would be it! And that woman can cook!

I'm sure going to try to be at the next one. Y'all had too much fun last year for me to miss it again this year.

This summer promises to be more than slightly crazy for me, but I sure don't want to miss it, whenever it is.

Richard, if you are coming I have to try to make it if at all possible so I can shake your hand and steal some licks!

That's a goal with this one, to give everyone plenty of notice so if they need to arrange their vacation days or volunteer for certain deployments so they'll be free at the time, they have time to do so.

I'd like to go if I can. I just need ample notice of when this venue will take place. I hope I can finally meet Joe, Mike or Fred as well as the other GDP members I've yet to meet. I was stuck last time in the NCO Academy and couldn't just skip homework to jam with Gretsch peeps. Looking back, I probably could have, but I chose to be responsible.

I think it might be advantageous to pick a tentative date a year in advance (for the third annual).

Can't y'all pick a place with air conditioning and no ticks?

There was a room set up with A/C we didn't use it. When you have an old tobacco barn ya gotta use it. There never would have been a problem with the ticks if crowbone wouldn't have wondered off chasing owls!

I wouldn't change a thing, you couldn't have had anticipated a better event. EVERYTHING was unique, Phila, property, food, location and everyone who attended. It's going to be a tough act to follow!

Sure will. I'm not sure we can top ourselves. Maybe a little different but just as good. Having some more attendees might just do that for us. -

Sadly if I get back to work I may not be able to make it but I'm not really thinking along those lines. If i go back over the road I could always arrange a layover in Nashville if it comes to that. I don't think it could possibly be the same held anywhere else. It would be nice to see everyone again and those that couldn't do it last year. Fred and Joe just made the event that much more special by being there!
