Regular viewers no doubt recall last year's extensive trivia contests and über-generous giveaways. Everyone wishes we could repeat or beat the record, but all last year was a celebration of Gretsch's 125th Anniversary. Just can't do that every year.
But that doesn't mean you'll go away empty-handed. Nosiree. I'll have some surprise premiums for faithful readers tomorrow and Sunday – and today and tomorrow are dedicated to a special Kim Falcon Triv-a-way.
I think Joe has mentioned the laminated concert-ready Kim Falcon all-access crew passes, with Kim's Falcon-and-Executive poster pose on the front, and a new image of Kim as Daisy Mae, slinging a 6120 with Dynas next to a hale of bay.
And we have 50 of them to give away!
Not only that, but if you call within the next 15...OK, HOURS or so...I think we can arrange to get yours au-to-graphed by the lovely Miss Kim herself.
Here's what you're going to be combing your brains for, lads:
.
And here's the format. We want to know about hits/significant songs and recordings featuring Gretsch guitars – from any and every decade.
There's one lanyard for each successful entry, and we only have the 50 to give away.
But it's not as easy as everyone coming up with "Smoke On the Water" (which would be wrong anyway – as far as we know).
We need fifty unique entries – and I'd like to avoid deep album cuts. But if it gets too obscure, you might have to come up with some kind of proof.
To make it fair to our non-continental-US competitors, we'll do 25 through the end of the day today – and start another round tonight for the other side of the world (or anyone else).
Kinda like an easter-egg hunt: once someone picks up the low-lying fruit (to mix a metaphor), it's gone and you'll have to go a little further and dig a little deeper.
