Yup! Welcome Kim!
And a hearty "Thank you" from me and my Family for the poster as well!
The Grandkids are already asking me which of them are gonna get the poster along with my fiddle when I pass on, and...hey; we're all realistic here! Seriously.
So you already have a measure of immortality going already! Cool, huh?

And thanks to Baxter, as this year we son't have the "proxy errors" and such that we had last year. Though I don't do the trivia thing......... it's good for everyone else.

I hope I can get some trivia questions. Daddy needs a new baseball cap and one can never have too many T-shirts.

Welcome, Kim. You're my symbol. A couple of these guys are claiming they have your signed poster, but actually I'm the one that has it. I KNOW you wouldn't have signed one for anyone but me.
Dr. Gretsch- It's a matter of taste, but in my opinion the best recording of "Hey Joe" was the Shadows of Knight. Nice 12-string in there, and some great bass lines.

Ya, I sent a note to you on your my-space, begging for a signed poster, but no reply. It's ok, you must get thousands of notes and I know that mere mortals like me have a hard time flying with angels. Anyways, Welcome Kim! We are all green with envy that most of us will not have the opportunity to meet you at NAMM. If you see the Reverend Guitar booth, stop by and tell them "soundjunkie" sent ya. Nice folks from Michigan!

Cool, now I know what Proteus looks like, so maybe I can track him down there and meet the legend in person. Don't worry, I'm unarmed, except maybe with a camera and minidisc recorder. In the spirit of fair play, here's what I look like, in case you want to say "Hi," or avoid me altogether.
I do hope to score one of those all access passes. It would dwarf my name official badge, but I'd still wear it at work. Any of you Gretsch folk like chocolate? I can hook you up.
This is shaping up to be a cool show, thanks to Joe, Prot, Jamie, et al. I'll be there all week (tip your waitresses, try the veal, etc.),

Man, it's hard to believe that it's here already. I'm still enjoying memories from last year's event. Funny thing - I easily remember the pleasantries, i.e. trivia contests, Joe doing his thing with giveways on stage, Proteus' in depth coverage, the many audio clips of great players (still enjoying those,) the introduction to new products, and the introduction to Kim! (Welcome, Kim. You're a great ambassador for Gretsch, and you have solid fan club here at the GDP.) Oddly enough, if not reminded by this thread, I wouldn't have remembered the "proxy errors," or "bad gateways." Good trumps evil!!
Again, cudos to Baxter for staying the course through all that mess, and making the improvements to ensure it doesn't happen again, hopefully.
I'd love to be able to attend, but for the time being, I'll be content with the coverage from all you gentlemen. Looking forward......

Thanks for the poster, Kim, and your myspace ROCKS as well!
Can't wait to see what Joe and Tim have in store.

Until now I only got news from the NAMM in Germany's most famous guitar magazine (Gitarre&Bass). I'm really looking forward to getting them first person from Proteus! Kim Falcon rulz ;-)

Let's just keep our fingers crossed in hopes that we don't experience "The Great Server Crash of 2008" this time.
Baxter has the site running pretty smoothly. I'd hate to see it crash again.

I can't fault the site for that... Imagine the entire Gretsch universe hitting Refresh all at once about 15 times a minute. That'd choke just about anything!
I wouldn't normally give NAMM a second glance, but because of the unequaled coverage Joe and Proteus serve up it's turned into something I actually look forward to!
Viva the Big G-Brand!!

Gretschaim, re: Shadows of Knight.
Don't want to blow the thread here, but OMG, that band was out of Prospect High School, in Mt. Prospect, IL. . .my sisters' alma mater. Thanks for reminding me of them! Also produced, of all people, Bruce Boxleitner, lol.

As far as I'm concerned, "Gloria" is by Shadows of Knight. Some Irish bloke apparently covered it, but it's a pale shadow of the REAL version.

This sounds like mid-west snobbery to me...the only version that I ever heard to any significant degree was that Irish bloke's version. The Shadows? Weren't they Cliff Richard's band?

Jan 12, 2009 6:27 p.m. Proteus:
Hey, I didn't know midwest from Mars. The song was on vinyl, and that made it an emissary of the magic beyond. It may as well have been empyrean. I wonder if they're on ütube...

Hey Kim, thanks from me too for the poster!
I'm excited for the trivia, I learn so much and sometimes win things! Like the G5222 amp from last year! I got lucky.
Thanks again!

As far as I'm concerned, "Gloria" was a Patti Smith song.
I heard some Irish dude sing it later. He had a van.
