Is that all the photos you took....maybe you could post a few more to give us a real feel of what it was like there.
Just kidding....Thanks for all the great photos. It must have taken a very long time to organize and post them.

Now I'm into the black '50 straight-8 Buick. That is going to have the sweetest whoofle, idling at a rock-steady 450rpm. All engines make music- I especially enjoy the be-bop waltz of a lazy straight-6, but a straight-8 is truly in the pocket.
Never heard an inline-4 sing a song worth a damn.

My uncle had a pink DeSoto just like that one on the first page, Proteus. I used to love those fins.
My uncle was the only person that I ever knew to have owned a DeSoto. Whatever happened to that company? Was the DeSoto a popular car?

Ric, the last De Sotos were made in late '60 ('61 model year). De Soto was a brand from the Chrysler Corporation. They were squeezed out by the corporate restructuring (i.e. panic!) initiated by the '58 recession. It's probably no coincidence that Ford's Edsel line was in the same upper-middle marketing niche and met the same fate. Compacts were suddenly the thing.

I'd drive one of them rat rods in Holland if:
A. 30's Ford 'fix 'er uppers' were cheaper. (Hell even finding one here is like finding a needle in a hay stack.)
And B. they were street legal without running fenders and stuff.

I am accustomed to attending car shows where the cars are finished. There were a lot of cars in this show that seemed to have been only partially finished. Is that customary?
BTW, thanks, Shuie, I had forgotten that DeSoto was a part of Chrysler.

"Release the Kraken" was FUNNY!
Thanks for the Studes, Proteus, tho, the pink '58 wagon was just scary.
Was that a diesel with the turbo? That was too much. I want one!
Shuie I learned to drive in a '52 Buick straight 8. Been in a few other inline 8 vehicles. Smooth is the word.
RIC12 I think Rat Rods are kind of a "work in progress". Like guitar modding. -

They're finished, guys purposely go for the tarnished, rusted look. Make them look like they were made to be driven, it's actually pretty common nowadays.

I think the Guild was 450.00 - I could probably read the phone number from the hi-res version of the pic, if anyone is interested.
