The parking lot of the Orleans Arena was the site today of the Shifters Car Club annual Viva Las Vegas Car Show.
The weather flirted with clouds and sprinkles of rain, but was mostly bright and sunny. Cars came from Vegas (of course), but also California, Arizona, and much further afield.
Club members and their ladies were out in their finery – not to mention Rockabilly Weekenders out for some fresh air and sunshine. A wild assortment of hot rods, rat rods, low-riders, fat-fendered 40s rides, finned 50s cruisers, and sleek 60s iron – and a few cars that defy description – were on hand.
There was live music (at least three bands) and vendors were everywhere selling parts and automobilia.
I spent a little over an hour – and took over 250 pictures. I could spend hours more grouping and classifying them, but there's too much other content to work on.
So you get it just as I walked the show, in chronological order. I won't even identify the cars. Maybe that can be a topic of discussion. There ought to be something here for everyone – feast your eyes on America's rich, exuberant (and sometimes wild and wacky) car culture.
