There won’t be a LinnDrum announcement this year.
Native Instruments, for instance, is skipping pricey trade shows to talk directly to would-be customers on the Web.

Re Gibson at NAMM. I read they were sharing a stand with Monster cables (stand 4242). Has this changed?
Old friends and familiars are gradually showing up: Buddy & Suzy Dughi and band, Elaine Frizell, of course Fred.
And giffenf has made his appearance.

You know what's very cool? The 3rd generation G-DEC amp. I heard developers and product managers talking about all its features on the van-ride to the Convention Center yesterday. Today I had a chance to sit down at a demo station (amp, headphone, guitar - I played a Tele), expecting to be underwhelmed.
Twenty minutes later I got up with a grin.
Think of a multi-modeling, programmable-effect amp with a stereo .wav player and digital recorder all in one. Plus USB in/out and companion software for permit data exchange, song/tone library, and parameter editing. There's an SD card slot for carrying more tunes, and it works with Amplitude LE for amp model editing. Stereo line in and out. The 30-watter has a 10" speaker and a tweeter (audio routes through both, guitar ONLY through the 10); 15-watt has 8" speaker only.
It comes loaded with at least 100 "jam tracks" developed by a range of great players (including Paul Pigat, Scotty Moore, Brad Paisley, and of course a range of rockers and metalists), from all genres, ready to play along with guitar tones tweaked for compatibility with the tracks.
But you can fill it with your own material and go-man-go. It's like an integrated guitar workstation – as one of the developers said, a swiss army knife for guitarists.
I'm very impressed.
And more of the heartbreaker.
Proteus - on a side note, but related to legends: did Fender unveil the Holly Tribute Strat?
Isn't Gibson going to use a robot
that penguin is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!
Shoot! that was quick-just finished attaching my answer to a wee Scottish carrier pigeon.
Hey I bet no one has noticed how attractive Kim is. Just thought I point that out!
Can one lust over a penguin... or would that offend animal rights activists?
Looks great it red sparkle... but just as well it's not blue... not sure I could resist that... but it'd have to have a Bigsby
Just saw the new Dick Dale Fender Acoustic. Looks pretty flashy.
Kim?....oh I HARDly noticed her.
I guess I'm the only one not crazy about the red Penguin, but I just don't care for it. It's not just the relic thing (you all know I don't care for that at all), the red just doesn't do it for me.
She is lovely
Well late for the comp as usual, damm this time difference!
Cochran Brothers it was,i really need one of those Alan Clark books,is this the scrapbook Joe mentions in the audio Tim?
Let me do the Kim looking please, you guys just concentrate on the guitars. O.K.?
Kim is lovely, indeed!
but the red Penguin ... i just don't know ...
but of course it's a stunning gitfiddle among stunning gutfiddles!
I don't usually care for relics, but I LOVE that red Penguin.
Enough Dynasonics already....great and all, but gimme something with filtertrons
... how can one have enough Dynasonics?
Speaking of that...any more word on the TV T'Armonds yet Tim?
Proteus,
More pictures of KIM FALCON please! She shore is purty.
Now your talking! TV Dynar...
how 'bout Kim Falcon with T-Armonds?
Alright alright, move along here folks, nothing to see...
Proteus, you obviously need to post a photo of Kim Falcon holding the red Penguin.
PS: please tell Rocky I am already planning a drive up to Brooklyn. That thing is sweet.

Oh, I absolutely do - great inspiration. That will come soon. I'm already talking to Rocky about the Penguin, but it will of course be pricey...
Meantime, here's Kim with the lovely and elegant Suzi Dughi. As nice as these ladies look, it's only half as fine as they are.

And while we're throwing up visions of loveliness, here are some of the guys I hung with for supper last night.
L-R, Cesar Lema, Kendall Smith, and wildman Bo Huff. Bo is a world-class builder of original 50s retro hot rods; his son Jr Bo Huff is one of the artists featured in the series of DSVs.
We had a fairly wacky dinner at the hotel: the waitperson neglected to take my order in sequence. Bo chased her down and told her he could understand her overlooking me, since I was a token white guy (we were all white), but she'd still have to take my order. It was pretty funny.
Guitarmaniac is our winner for the first Eddie book - though the trivia I was after was that the Cochran "brothers" were not related.
So I pretty much have to give a book to sroux too, right?
Get me your addresses.
Next up, Gretsch bolos for the first two right answers: who, in connection with Eddie Cochran, is Mamie Van Doren?
