Congrats, buddy. Trust me, I know EXACTLY how you feel-- it happened to me at last year's Roundup!

At the end of the evening this year, I was telling someone how great it was to see others experience the feeling of disbelief that I experienced at my first Roundup.

Like Joe Carducci told me last year, some things are just meant to be. Enjoy your treasure and the memories that come with it!

Thanks to you guys for all the links, pics, audio, and video - it was way too big a story, with too much to cover, for one guy. It's tremendous seeing everyone's perspectives, and has to help bring it to View-Master 3-D life for those who couldn't make it.

wenzel, we talked about you often, and all remember the first GDP Gretsch gathering in Jersey, and your involvement. You'll remember we tried hard to get you to Nashville last year - even offering to drive down to the base and get you. So when you said in the Magic Bus thread in June, after the October 16-18 dates were confirmed, that you were coming - we all figured it was a done deal! Kinda surprised that it didn't come true...

roadjunkie, you (and crowbone) were sorely missed. I'll never forget your enthusiasm and commitment at the '08 event - and putting the first Tru-Arc on your DSW. (Or the fact that you've graciously - if unintentionally - loaned me your Tim pedal for over a year!

You're part of the heart and soul of the whole Roundup thing, and I know we'll see you next time.

Paul/FF, thanks for the fill-in on Warren. It's good to have the back-story behind a fine player who's also clearly a true original. His and redrocker's sets of 50s classics were always fun - and what generous, responsive musicians both of them are.

Kudos to Warren for staying away from damnable computers, and here's hoping you can haul him back to Hachland Hills for the next event.

Family matters kept me away from this year's Euro roundup, but I'd really like to make the next one. The Zurich venue (Zurich, Netherlands) looked good. Same place in 2010? Hopefully a UK 'team' can make it.

After two days of chill drizzle, the sun came out on Sunday - giving all a taste of Hachland Farm at its scenic autumn best.

There was still much to do. Curt had not done the guitar finish-care session we'd hoped for, the pedal-order demo and lab was likewise MIA, neither Joe C. nor Steve S. had yet had the chance to play, and Fred-Joe-n-Bax had to sign folks' official certificates to be mounted on their branded boards.

Accordingly, after breakfast (at 8:25, as requested), it was back to the barn for the boogie.

But not before some loitering about in the sunshine at the lodge, visiting with Miss Phila.

Did you know she recently catered meals for four days for 20 Russian visitors at Ft. Campbell?

That she had a cooking show in the 50s on Nashville TV, and was a longtime friend of Julia Childs?

That she fed Elvis, Chet, and pretty much everyone else in Nashville at one time or another?

There's a lot to talk about with Miss Phila.

Signing Ceremonies...

The officials sign their names to the certificate, and boards are assembled from upholstery tacks, plastic protector sheets, and VIP tags. The one hammer was broken Friday night in trying to move a nail, so we beat the tacks in with channel-locks. Until I ran out of tacks.

Many attendees had their boards autographed by all - a fine idea.

Tim, Sorry that I didn't get any pic's of you and your Special guitars. i was oohing and aaahing all over them and I guess I got caught up in the Entertainment that derived from them. I do believe that my video camera caught that set but not sure yet. We've been preparing for a show so I've been playing every night this week. BTW, did you get my email about shipping your Barstool?
I can't imagine how much better it would have been if you had came. I truly admire the stuff that I've heard on here and would love to meet you in person. I'm an old Rocker but I still appreciate the finger picking style that some of you make look so easy.

Damned it Chris ( Wenzel ) Tell em you've got the Swine flu and hop on a bus. You don't have to bring a Gretsch just don't bring a Pointy guitar or it will probably end up in the Bonfire. Ha!

The only way I can figure not getting a picture of Brian was the camera batteries took a poop. Great job on Pic's, Curt, Especially Buddy the dog and the look on Brian's face when he won the Jet. Oh, and the one of Brian with the Branding Iron. I'll have to watch the Video later. Thanks for adding those, Brian.

Joe goes all Nocturnal...

... with one of TVthewiredturtle's Christmas glitter edition Nocturne "Brain Seltzer" preamp pedals.

I had two pedals with me, and had intended to include them prominently in a pedal-order demo (which, thanks to lack of time, didn't happen).

And I hadn't hooked them up earlier because I didn't want them kicked around and beat up on the concrete barn floor.

But there was time before things wound completely down for Joe to experiment with one. The guitar is a 6120GA with TV Classics and a copper Tru-Arc bridge; I believe the amp was Curt's amazing JB Lawrenceville hopped-up Princeton clone.

Joe played for several minutes, cranking the amp up and down, twisting the knobs on the pedal, pushing for grit and backing off, giving the rig a thorough workout. And the pedal's behavior will be very clear in the audio, coming soon to this very location.

Joe's verdict? The pedal behaves exACTly like the front end of an RE-301 (and he has several Space Echoes at home).
