Lacquered vertical grain Redwood. Bottom loaded switch with access cover. 5' lead with angled plug. I'm going to make a Maple version and then a stock looking one with speckled paint and top loaded switch.

All but finished. Need to sand, buff & polish the block. Glue some non-skid rubber material on the bottom. Get a proper smaller Carling switch and wire it up. A vintage cable/plug was even used. I'll tie a knot in it so it will not pull out of the hole.

I installed a smaller Carling switch last night, the two tab on/off type.
Thanks Bob. Let me know if you need the dimensions. Maybe you can cabbage some of the parts from your faulty foot switch(cable). And this came with the new Victoria made Gretsch amp and it's already broke? You must have been stompin' on it!?

Jase, I was thinking that the whole time I was making it. Flashback to my Cub Scout Pinewood Derby days! Might have been the smell of lacquer.
I made it to Eagle Scout btw.

Paul that's a classy piece there. When I picked up this Ambassador head I didn't get the stock reverb switch with it. For some time I just didn't bother with it. I either turned it off or dialed it down to a usable level where I wouldn't have to worry about turning it on or off. Out of the blue I was in a store so I ask if they had a switch I could use. they pointed it out on the wall. I really didn't check it out. Just said yeah that will do and went on my way. Well I checked it out when I got home. I can't really complain about it. It never hiccupped yet but it's a nondescript rubber wedge that looks like it fell out of a 5 year olds Lego set.Big ole' red button at the top of the wedge. Reminds me of some old Hollywood B movie prop with the classic red button when pushed it would blow up the world!
Yeah the Tophat deserves something with a bit more class.

Thanks guys! Made this one for myself and NitroG wants a Speckled Hen(Original version).
RoadJ, I'd like to see a photo of that switcher. I've seen some of the rubber door stop switchers but they had basic chrome switches installed.

This one is as light as Pine. I'd match it up against anybody. My weight would be the switch.

Good work, and kudos for making Eagle..my grandma offered $100 to each grandkid that reached Eagle Scout status. Only two cousins made it. I couldn't survive Webelo..the final incident, on a cold and dark Michigan winter overnighter Mike Bedel crapped himself, took his underwear off and set them on the tent floor between our sleeping bags. Love ya anyway Mike, wherever you are.

Cool switch and congrats on Eagle Paul, another here. Never did win a Pinewood Derby though.
piratesrule- I've got 12 years of scouting stories and still didn't need to hear that one. It is never too cold to open up the tent real quick!

What the hell is Pre-Catalyzed lacquer? I used a catalyst with acrylic enamel, but lacquer?? It dries in minutes anyway. Whatever it is, it looks great.

pirate, I'm like Adam...I didn't need to hear that story, but thanks good for a laugh
. I've got some stories too but to graphic to go into detail here. My Dad was the Scout Master during mine and my brother's trek to Eagle. So we/he made damn sure we succeeded! We called him "By the book" Dale. Igot my ass whoped a couple of time for stepping out of line thinking I could get away with stuff.
Billy, I have no earthly idea what Pre-Cat. Lacq. is, your asking the wrong person. This stuff did dry fast and I've yet to wet sand and buff it, will do soon though. "Mohawk" is actually made by a local company near by. I live in an area known as the "Furniture capital of the world" and places used Lacquer like it was water. Thanks for the comp!

A couple more. One of these is spoken for, he has his choice. A speckled painted top mounted version and a natural clear lacquered rear mounted style. Both made out of Maple. Carling switch and vintage right angle plug. (In the photos I used the same cord/plug for both shots).

The speckled paint footswitch shown in Setzer's pic above arrived last Friday and I've been having fun with it all weekend. The vintage styling looks great, especially with my '57 Electromatic, but also with my '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue.
Of course it works perfectly too!
Can't recommend Setzer's work highly enough...if you need a well made custom footswitch you know where to find 'em...
