FS: Gretsch Executive G6163 Amp
Had it a couple of years!
Only played it out for a couple of occassions.
I'm just a Fender Guy!, Quad Reverb is my #1 Amp, then Blues Deluxe Reissue,,,
Nice, but I need money now.
I have a few things up on consignment already like a 1972 Twin Reverb, Super Reverb Re-issue ,,, and now thinking of putting this up in a store in San Francisco,,, but before I do that, I wanted to give fellow GP-ers a first shot.
I think I even bought it from a GP-er a couple of years ago.
All stock, cover and everything.
I think a reverb tube may be microphonic, etc. but that's about it,
On E-Bay, I see one going for $1,695 and another for $1,595 with a tear but I'll be bargainable + shipping though via GP-ers.
What do you think a reality price should be for such an amp?
For both parties to be happy,
I'll give it a week on here then I'll put it up in the store in SF.
I sold my Executive (plus Tuki cover) for $1400 last summer. Mint condition (home use only). It also had a matched set of NOS RCA 6V6's and a receipt for my tech showing that it had been rebiased (for the RCA's) and recent general cleaning & servicing.
At the time the few that I could find (Ebay, etc.) -- new ones were $1500-$1600, seemed like dealers trying to get their money out of them.. I did see some used ones listed for $1800 +/-, but they "expired" with 0 bids.
I had originally bought mine new in 2008 for $1400 -- so I came close to getting my money out of it (if you throw in the cost of the cover, NOS tubes and service). My dealer was willing to let it go for that just to get his money out of it. It had been in his show room for over two years.
These amps are truly an enigma to me... They are FABULOUS amps and well worth the original street prices ($3000 +/-). For whatever reason, they just never got much interest or attention. I suspect the cause was a lack of a competent and organized marketing effort by Gretsch/FMIC.
The only reason I sold mine was that I had an opportunity to acquire the amp that had been my ultimate bucket list item since the late 1950's when I was in my teens -- a Standel 25L15. I could not justify keeping both amps.
Email sent...stil have it ?
